"This place used to be lovely and the service used to be great. However, on our last visit the staff were just stood around chatting and they didn’t come to the table when we were waiting. Such a shame."

"Mixed experience here some good...some not so good... First the good the food itself was nice, with a wide range of lunch choices, cakes, (including gluten free ones) and beverages. Although we didn 't have our dog with us, the cafe is also dog friendly (appreciate some may not see this as a positive). The young lad working in the cafe was very pleasant, but was left largely on his own by other staff members for a while during the busy lunchtime rush period. I understand there is a need for staff breaks but a bit unsure of the timing of these. Anyway hats off to him, great service under the circumstances as the place was busy. Now the less good... there was a couple in the cafe at the time and the lady complained about a dirty fork, now i don 't know if the fork was dirty or not to be honest but we felt the member of staff was a bit terse with her when this was raised. Anyway the staff member cleaned the fork and returned it... job done etc.. however when the couple in question had left the member of staff (on a break and at a table in the cafe) decided to moan about her interaction with 'knife woman ' (as the customer was referred to) while the cafe was full of other customers I feel this is really bad form, regardless of rights and wrongs surely staff gripes can be made behind the scenes and not in front of remaining customers? My impression was that the cafe has some good local support and custom this is a good thing of course, but not sure we would return if back in the area given the above impressions made."

"First impressions of the place was that it was clean, tidy and modern and once inside the staff where really welcoming and very helpful, even when we had food and drinks the staff checked that everything was all ok with our meal and checked if...we wanted anything else which is a lot more than most cafes do! I was pleasantly surprised by the range choice of the food and drink menu for vegetarians and vegans!! Even nowadays it can be difficult for me to find a café that does vegetarian food, let alone a vegan option but this café does and has a very good range of choice, whether you want breakfast, lunch or a light bite. They have a mixture of milk alternatives as well which makes a nice change than having to have a black coffee. Will definitely be going back and would highly recommended anyone to go, vegan, veggie or non of the above, as my mum is neither and really enjoyed her lunch and to top it off the café is dog friendly which is really lovely to see, they even have dog treats which they give out to all the four legged customers which is a really nice touch"

"We called in for lunch whilst visiting Ness Botanical Gardens. We had an enjoyable lunch at a reasonable price the pulled pork panini was particularly good. Friendly, helpful staff."

"My mother and I visited here after a day of shopping in Chester a couple of weeks ago and I can't recommend it enough for afternoon tea. For the price, (I think it was roughly £7.50pp or £14 for two people) we weren't actually expecting very much but we couldn't have been more wrong! We got a prawn mayo rocket, and an egg mayo sandwich each, a large scone with clotted cream and jam, and a selection of cakes/macaroons too. It all arrived on a tiered stand and everything was very fresh and of good quality. In all honesty it was probably one of the best afternoon teas I've ever had: the setting of the cafe is beautiful, the service was attentive and friendly but not overbearing (the manager even came for a chat when we'd finished, which was nice), everything was well timed, the food was delicious and a good amount, and the price is absolutely unbeatable. I came on here expecting to see more reviews similar to mine and was shocked to see some negative feedback. I can say for certain that we didn't experience anything that has been mentioned in these so I think they must have turned things around and made some improvements. It's well worth a visit and we're really looking forward to returning here in the future."
