"Great experience. First time stop here and I was hesitant thinking it was just a hibachi grill. I sat at the bar. Bartender was attentive and helpful from beginning to end. It wasn't busy on Monday so the restaurant was very quiet. I tried the spicy edamame and the crab puff for an appetizers and the mouth of fire sushi. Delicious! I will definitely be adding this to my list of sushi stops"

"My wife and I went to Yanagi randomly for a quick sushi fix. We went around 5pm on a Saturday and we’re quickly seated. The service was not very good. We were hurried along to a random table and 2 menus were slightly thrown onto the table.We ordered waters and salad with ginger dressing salad was good and dressing was tasty.We saw they had Katsu on the menu so we ordered the chicken katsu don with a roll and some sushi. The chicken katsu was bland and the breading was soggy and not crispy at all.The sushi was ok it wasn’t bad but there are definitely some opportunities to elevate. We didn’t mind the dragon roll although some of the avocado had some browning to it. The prices are reasonable here but the quality you can tell isn’t the highest combined with somewhat unfriendly waitresses."

"BEST SUSHI PLACE EVER. I came here because I felt a little 日本語. The service is great with a native Japanese sushi chef letting me practice my Japanese! Their sushi was made with such great quality you could taste every flavor in it! Even the atmosphere in the building was great. They have chopsticks for people who want to eat the traditional way, and utensils for people who don't prefer chopsticks. The party room feels like you're entering in a mini Japanese home, or maybe that's just me. Overall, a great place. Definitely recommend coming here, whether you want your food to go, or dine in. Vegetarian options: There are tons of vegetarian options! My family member who was vegan went over to Bon Sushi. He loved everything about it! Parking: Great parking opportunities. You can always rely on finding a spot to park in."

"For the record, this restaurant is now called Ichi Umi, and it is absolutely the best place for sushi in all of Austin. I've spent several vacations across Japan, and in all honesty, the meals here rival those I've enjoyed overseas. The fish is consistently amazing, with a wide variety to choose from, and always served artistically, with plentiful portions. To make the experience better, service here is also quick, attentive and non-intrusive. Try the appetizer boxes of raw octopus, ikura and tsukemono, as well as the agedashi tofu. I don't know if they make the tofu there, but it tastes homemade and is always prepared with a crispy exterior and soft, creamy interior. After 7 or 8 visits, there is still a whole portion of the menu I haven't tried, as I'm addicted to my favorites. Today we had Carrie as our server, who was incredible. She recommended a salmon special topped with caviar and gold flakes that was sublime. This restaurant provides original and exotic menu items that stray from the norm in the best way. Importantly, the prices here are competitive and the food overdelivers every time. I've been ripped off at various other places in town, where portions and quality pale in comparison to Ichi Umi."
