"A true 'Mom and Pop ' place. Dad is the chef. Mom on the floor and the kids bussing tables. The calamari is fantastic. Quattro Formaggi delicious. As well as the Veal cannoli. You cannot go away hungry or disappointed. Nice wine too."

"Having high tea at the Empress is an occasion rather than a meal. The decor, atmosphere and service are excellent. This is an experience to remember. The attention to detail is remarkable. The serving staff are perfect. For the food, we were given each: one scone with jam and/or clotted cream, 4 finger sandwiches plus a mini quiche, and an assortment of exquisite little desserts, from macaron to a confection of chocolate mousse, raspberry mousse, nougat and chocolate shell. The tea is excellent as well. I'm not a huge tea drinker, but I drank several cups of tea with no sweetener. It was delicious. If you visit Victoria, you have to have tea at the Empress. The view is terrific as well."

"Was out touring the area and needed a place to get some lunch. Everything in the touristy areas was jammed, even though it was after pm. Then I remembered Cordova Bay golf course was up ahead so rolled in there. Glad I did. I...had the seafood wrap with a side of fries. Very tasty. Friendly service."

"The hostess and sever neglected to tell us they had a special and we overheard them telling a later table. We had issues finding something we liked as one dish had been removed since our last visit and it was our favourite, As it turned out, the special wa something we would both have ordered if informed. Main courses are overpriced even accounting for inflation."
