"Kona is like a tropical Las Vegas or a Monday night on Bourbon Street. THIS is the top rated sushi place in Kona? What an embarrassment. The sushi was mediocre at best with too mushy rice and meager portions. The horrible fried fare (chicken furikake that the server recommended fried ahi steak) on the other hand was awful AND plentiful. At first, I thought that the katsu sauce could save the ahi tuna steak but sadly it was just a thick glop of salt. The chicken furikake was covered in a goopy sauce that somehow congealed the fried coating on the chicken. There is NO ambiance as the window facing ‘view’ allows for a sneak peek at a gorgeous Japanese paper lantern… That has been covered in plastic and is so filthy and bug covered it is in itself nauseating. People watching is depressing as it is a belly out vibe…and not the good kind. Inside it’s dark and dingy with no attention to aesthetics."
