"I had travelled up from Innsbruck on the train to Garmische Partenkirche. The weather was showery and the skies full of clouds. On leaving the railway station my first impressions of the town were not too great. I walked up the street away from the...station. I could see a church in the distance so I decided to head for that and I found myself in the beautiful old part of the town on Ludwigstrasse. I walked along the main street. Most of the shops were shut I had come on Boxing Day! My fault I know. Further along the main street there is another church and opposite is the highly decorated exterior of the Bayrischer Gasthof Zum Rassen. You reaqlly can't miss it. It wqas mid afternoon and I asked if they had a table for one. I was immediately made to feel at home and given a warm welcome. The interior is a delightfully old world traditional environment with many pictures of past generations of the what I presume were the owner's family. I enjoyed two glasses of dunkel weizen (dark wheat beer) and some Kartofffel Suppe (potato soup) followed by Krusten Braten (roast pork with crackling, dumplings and beer gravy) absolutely delicious! A substantial lunch, a warm and welcoming setting, friendly staff what more can you ask for for 28.40 euro. If I ever return to Garmische Partenkirche this is where I will eat and I advise you to give it a try"
