"My husband, who lived in Germany for 10 years, explained that restaurants in German department stores were dependably good and reasonable and often afforded pleasant views of the city. In the case of Dinea, he was right on mark. There were six or seven food stations, ranging from a salad bar to pastries, with a long steam-table setup along one wall. We ordered two of the day’s hot specials – Charles, spaetzel with a ragout of chicken breast with chanterelles; me, hunter-style (button mushrooms in gravy) pork schnitzel with French fries. I also assembled a salad from the fresh greens and grilled veggies on the salad bar, and we split a beer as we looked out over the Market Plaza to the Altes Rathaus. The outdoor terrace looked like it would have been pleasant on a cooler day."

"Pm. Perhaps the waiter had been given too many tables to service, but it was hard to get his attention. When we managed to ask after minutes when our food might arrive, he was abrupt and defensive. Quote ”Everything here is fresh so...food takes mins” when told how long it was since we ordered he was more sheepish and disappeared inside. Clearly they had forgotten our order. He returned saying it would be mins. mins later the food arrived. We had the same difficulty getting his attention shortly after for the bill"
