"We stopped in on a Sunday about 430 pm.Very friendly staff greeted us immediately. We ordered the potato skins as an appetizer. We had the 3 cheese grilled cheese on multigrain with fries and gravy. I also tried the one piece fish and chips special for 8.95 recommended by the server. The fish is red snapper which piqued my interest. The fish was cooked well but I found it kind of heavy for fish and chips. The fries are typical pub fries.The grilled cheese was average. Good but not great. The gravy although tasty was lumpy and too salty. The potato skins were generous with real bacon and cheese. Overall this is competent pub food. Good but not spectacular. However the friendly enthustiac service makes this an enjoyable friendly experience."

"Absolutely amazing, surprisingly-affordable breakfast and baked goods! The Benny was delicious and the lox and eggs was incredible. And the Nanaimo bars were the best I've ever had in Nanaimo. Definitely recommend!"

"The Discovery Room is the restaurant of the VIU Culinary Arts Program. The room is only open on limited days (see web) but is well worth making a reservation. A three course lunch was 24 per person for three courses , and tea or coffee. There is a good wine list as well. If you can, get a window table as the view on a good day from their hill location is out over the water to Vancouver."
