"Terrible service at the pub. Upon entering the pub on a quiet Sunday afternoon our server did not greet us for a good 15 minutes. Two other sets of customers were not as patient and left after never even being acknowledged by staff. Our server never returned to the table once the food had been delivered, leaving me to eat with nothing to drink. All the tables were filthy and the place smelled of stale beer. The food was decent, but I won't be back for more."

"Great service! great food! spectacular view! this pub was directly from the harbour air, so it made our wait easy. the party we met was stuck in the ferry lineups in west vancouver, so a place like this our 3 hours waiting that much more feasible! it turned out that most restaurants were insealed, as long waiting times during our 3 days stay were inevitable. we came back three times to the lighthouse pub because there were no waiting times, service was great and eating was excellent!"

"Asteras Greek Taverna is a lovely restaurant located in downtown Nanaimo. Judging from the number of patrons in the restaurant, it is a popular spot. It has very nice decor and authentic atmosphere, linen tablecloths, but no attitude. The servers were very friendly, efficient and attentive. They also have amazing memories; being able to recite all the numerous specials without skipping a beat. The food was excellent with very generous portions (you may want to share mains with your dinner partner). The wine, drink and beer list is modest but has some excellent choices. The menu has lots of choice too so my wife and I will have to return and try some of the other items."

"Great fish. Nice crispy light batter, not greasy really enjoyed the fish. The fries need work. Would be nice if they were crisper. Got there just before the supper rush so we could sit down due to the limited sitting area. Nice walk around the harbour after we ate. Worth the price."

"Ten of us arrived for a birthday celebration and the atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. The food was remarkable and our table ordered a wide variety of dishes from steaks, to veg pasta, to duck, to prawns, mussels, crab cakes and dessert coffees. The service was wonderful and we felt that our server was actually part of our group as she fit right in and was able to provide great suggestions. Loved the wasabi mayonnaise.......you could put that stuff on anything."

"We did not have reservations and were told it would be an hour wait as there were 13 tickets ahead of us. We decided to be seated and enjoy a drink while we waited. I don't think we waited a full hour.Every dish is made to order so, be patient and enjoy your visit.It is a fairly small menu; we had 2 appetizers and 2 entrees, all were delicious.The prices are very reasonable for the size and quality.We would eat here again.Reservations are a very good idea.Small venue but, not crowded. Wouldn't be good for large groups.Belini is traditional Italian, not American slushy style."
