"I have never been so disappointed in a beach club. The service at the chairs was ok but the restaurant beggars belief. I suggest if you want to eat at 1300 you book a table at 1200 as we waited until 1430 for our food to arrive from 1300 booking. They got the drinks orders wrong three times and when I asked for the food order to be taken at 1330 I was told I would need to wait another 5 minutes. Another 15 later she came with a face like thunder. Anyway if you order pasta with truffles ( main course) you will get 6 small pieces. The burgers were small surrounded by enormous buns and the bolognese is better in Prezzo or Zizzi. When we came to pay and explained how disappointed we were we were offered to come back for a drink in the evening which having 6 kids with us was not an option. The manager asked what else he could do and I suggested a small discount and he just walked away. Such a shame. Never again. Club 55 knocks spots off it !"

"We chose to eat in the restaurant. Food not bad but went overboard to try to be modern: the carpaccio was no substitute for an authentic tartare, for example. There was the standard pizza with truffles, expensive and not that good. Lots of in-crowd tables...and enthusiastic kids serving. All the while, the beach was full of people watching the entertainment on a cheaper menu. Good music and not too loud. Not cheap. If only the food had been simpler/better."

"We visited Le Club 55 on a Friday afternoon for a late lunch at 3.30pm. We arrived to find a queue of clients snaking through the busy cramped restaurant towards a small table covered in squares of card with people’s names written on them, manned...by a very confused looking owner. People who knew him jumped the queue and fist bumped him. This queue was so close to people dining it must have removed from the experience for the people at these tables. It was also directly blocking the path of staff to the kitchen and clients to the bathroom so you are pushed and shoved about while you wait. Not a relaxing first impression. We waited in the chaos for about 10mins before being seated at a dirty table with other people’s dirty glasses and crockery on, that was surrounded by three other dirty tables that remained that was for at least half an hour after we were seated. Staff came to reset the table and let me tell you cutlery plates and tablecloth are literally thrown at you. Staff look anywhere in the restaurant other than into your eyes. Do not expect any kind of warmth with this service. A lady came to take our order who was pleasant but clearly under immense pressure. We then waited too long for our drinks while the waiting staff argued in front of our table by the time we chased them and it came we were desperate for a drink due to the sheer chaos and stress of the environment. I stood up to find the bathroom and struggled to find it no signage and I asked a staff member who shouted some directions as he stampeded past me and I had the same treatment by two other staff as I walked in a loop around the overcrowded restaurant with cumbersome chairs and tables that took up too much space and were too heavy to move out of the way, so instead you are crushed if you want to avoid being crashed into by the hurried stressed staff. The food was really nice simple, French food the wine was ok. We felt we didn’t want to ask for anything like extra ice, condiments the sense was that everyone was far too busy and we’re actively avoiding client impromptu requests. Music was a live acoustic band moving around table To table and there was also a magician…which it feels like they need to sort the place out. We felt very stressed by our lunch and couldn’t wait to get out. Totally at odds with every other lunch we’ve enjoyed in St Tropez which we have taken our time with and enjoyed the high levels of service and refined atmospheres. Surviving on history and reputation in my opinion. Focus on making processes more efficient and practical and the staff more warm, personable and caring would improve things no end. As it is we wouldn’t go back or recommend to others."
