"Basho has hot pot now! Yay!! Went here specifically to try their hot pot, since there has been a lack in the area since Swish Shabu closed a few years back.We were initially seated in the regular section but when the waiter learned we wanted hot pot, we were then moved to the hot pot section that has the tables with the heaters.We ordered 2 broths chicken broth and goji berry broth, one order of the chicken combo which comes with a side of veggies and rice, and we also ordered a side of ramen. Technically the combo orders are for one person but it seemed like enough food for two. We could have ordered a second one or a few extra sides, but in the end it was ok.Both broths were on the mild side I thought the goji berry broth had a really interesting tangy sweet flavor. The condiments (garlic, hot sauce, soy sauce) helped add flavor, but we've had broths like tonkatsu in other shabu places which is really quite flavorful and would be good to add here as an option imo. The other broths included a spicy one and a Tom yum broth which would be worth trying at least once.The hot pots at times would start boiling over quite rapidly and we were worried they might boils over, but the servers came by to check and moderate the heat. Also we realized that adding ingredients into them calmed them down a bit so it was a bit of nervous action going on ha ha!Overall nice experience to try out once."

"Great sushi place in chinatown boston! first visit and was not disappointed! large selection of signature and traditional rolling! would definitely recommend the celtic roll from its signature line the green wrapped roll. the service was great and the prices were comparable to most other sushi places. very sober setting! a nice little curse from the street noise! a nice quiet place to enjoy some very good Japanese cuisine! definitely would recommend!"

"Real score 3.9-4.6 (I went back)I was looking forward to blue fin sashimi. They were out, so I punted with the combo.Salad was good. Miso soup pretty good. Sushi/sashimi was good. But I didn't realize the nigiri would be seared. Not a fan of warm nigiri or sashimi. #2.Since it was close and I was craving..Got rhe the Blue fin I was Not dissapointed!!I asked for no torching. "JP Seafood has been around for years!! The secret, it has maintained the integrity of the quality, quantity and menu with the passage of time! This is not lost on the locals or newcomers. My favorite is the lunch menu. You can get healthy, tasty affordable selections whether it be the (preceded by Miso Soup) Bento Box or Sushi. The dinner menu (scaled down) is also available. You can dine alone or with friends, and have a view of the tropical fish tanks flush against the wall. The owners live in the neighborhood and that may also have a bearing. The sense of loyalty and responsibility to the community! I've seen many other restaurants come and go in the Neighborhood, yet JP Seafood has stood the test of time! The Bonus, Everything is so pleasing to the Eyes and that's where the introduction to any meal begins!"
