"The CHARTHOUSE was a very memorable dining experience that my ex wife and I often enjoyed “years ago”. It wasn’t till after her passing that I suddenly recalled how we always relished eating there when we were younger and married without children. The restaurant survived a catastrophic “FIRE” years ago too, but survived to reopen its doors just as it was to our surprise and continued enjoyment. Since being retired I rarely get to enjoy the things I used to when we were younger and so after attending a late afternoon performance of the off Broadway production of “HAMILTON”,at the Honolulu Concert Hall, I decided to make it an evening by visiting my old haunt at the “CHARTHOUSE” to relive my past experiences. Well the ambiance may have been the same in appearance only BUT it was literally “PACKED” from wall to wall of “tourists” all scrambling to just get a quick bite to eat and dash back out to Waikiki for whatever they traveled to Hawaii to do on their high priced vacation. Considering the extremely inflated prices of food and other services impacted by the post COVID lockdown I can only surmise that everywhere in Waikiki must be so outrageously overpriced just to have a decent meal that the prices here at the CHARTHOUSE must be a major factor to dine in. I recently had dinner at “WOLFGANG’S STEAK AND SEAFOOD RESTAURANT” in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and a single diner tab (jumbo shrimp cocktail, porterhouse steak, crème brûlée) was $300.00 Tip how ridiculously outrageous was that ! Anyway I ordered a “surf ‘n turf” combo “9oz. Prime rib and a whole Lobster Tail with a bowl of Clam Chowder that came out to $170.00 Tip at the CHARTHOUSE It was less than “HALF” of what it would have cost if I were to order it from WOLFGANG’S (price of a single Lobster was $200). ALL IN other than the ridiculous “CROWD” of desperate tourists rushing about in this cramped restaurant and the extreme “NOISE LEVEL” the food was good and the prices even BETTER !"

"There weren't many options for food. The service was okay as the server try to engage in small talk. As there weren't many options, for my wife's birthday all we had was dessert and drink and had to go to another restaurant for food. the Nitro ice cream we wanted, the server informed us that no one right then knew how to use it and weren't able to serve us"

"We went for a nice dinner with my mom and thought the special looked amazing. Bison filet and a walleye filet. The best part was the wild rice and salad. The bison was too charred and the steak knives would/couldn't cut it! When we brought this up to the waitress, she said the chef told them to make sure no one orders it more than medium. We ordered it medium. The filet was ok, just too salty. Save your coins!"

"About all the experiences was great! our server was excellent and the atmosphere was real and pleasant to the senses. a few of us had the best rib dinner special and I found the meat for me a little hard, but still had good taste."
