"Wonderful evening meal with cider on tap. Cider comes free of charge with your meal. There is a choice of dry or very dry. The big feature is that you pour it yourself from huge vats set into one wall. Turn the tap and it...shoots out giving the chance to fill your glass with a flourish of showmanship. (Other drinks are available. The food is straightforward, with fish (locally caught cod served straight or in an omelette. And then there is the piece de resistance, cote de boeuf main course served with frites. This was cooked to perfection, nicely pink inside, and even 4 teenagers agreed it was delicious and kept asking for more. Restaurant looked unexceptional from the outside but long tables and good locals (incl families support made the atmosphere inside feel authentic and the experience very enjoyable."

"On a dull grey day, we were looking for a good lunch to while away some time and couldn 't have done better than the Hiriartia. What a joy! It was like walking back into the kind of restaurants that abounded in France 20 years or more ago but which get harder to find. A big, airy pretty room with a pleasanty quiet 'buzz ' of conversation, lots of people obviously on lunch break from work and the most delightful smilley, helpful staff. We managed to communicate with our basic French and their basic English, and had a really traditional lunch of proper, well cooked, entirely appetising food. We shared a (very large) starter of poached eggs cooked with lardons, onions and mushrooms new to us and totally delicious. Then Guineau fowl with a lovely Gratin Dauphinoise and finally, we shared (small appetites but great enjoyment) an Ile Flottante for pudding. This was food well sourced and finely cooked and served with warmth and love. Heartily recommended I wish we lived in the next village!"
