"Been here twice, I want to love it; the service is really good but the food is not. Both times they’ve overcooked everything, and both times the hollandaise sauce was so over cooked that it curdled/separated. Very unappetizing, regretted giving it a second chance, especially when it happened a second time.I'm honestly shocked at the amount of positive reviews it has, I have to wonder where else everyone is eating breakfast, to think this is good! I love supporting local businesses, but unfortunately their omelettes and hollandaise are really, really bad."

"We had breakfast included with our room so we ate here every day. Unlike the Marriott at Niagara Falls, there was no wait here at all. The hostesses were friendly and efficient. The buffet was one the better hotel ones. It had the omelette and waffles station, many chafing dishes with scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, sausages and two that changed each day, I know there were blintzes one day. There was a big selection of cereal, oatmeal, yogurt and very nice fresh fruit. There was toaster with bagels, English muffins, etc and some baked goods like muffins and danishes. They had nice cheese platters with some cold meats as well. But the icing on the cake - smoked salmon with all the fixings! Excellent!!! I highly recommend the breakfast buffet. We didn't have dinner here but we did stop in for dessert and tea one night. We had the Chocolate Frenzy (or something like that ) and Toffee cake. Both were OUTRAGEOUS. (See pics)"

"A very good restaurant in the interior of halifax. portions were large enough. all the meals we had there, where just perfect. prices very appropriate for the quality of food. I also have to mention the quality of the service we had there from our server, who was attentive and professional. it will be a repetition when I am back in the opposite."

"We enjoyed a delicious brunch here. I had The Durty Bird and would highly recommend it. This is a small unfussy cafe that gets to the point - good food and service! Upon our entering the place looked packed! The lineup moved quickly however, with only about a 5-7 minute wait. After placing our orders we waited outside (with our morning tea) about 10 minutes in the sunshine, until a waitress came and indicated that our table was ready. Once seated our wait was about 15 minutes and worth every minute. We enjoyed a hot home cooked styled breakfast and couldn't have asked for better flavours. A big thumbs up for The Coastal Cafe - you won't leave hungry or disappointed!"

"The last time I went to Smitty's was out west, and their reputation wasn't the greatest, which is probably I've waited until now to go to this local one near my house. I was very pleasantly surprised though. The service was prompt, friendly and excellent and the food was way better than I remember it being. I ordered a custom breakfast that wasn't on the menu and the waitress brought it out exactly as I requested. Very impressed. Love the bottomless coffee as well. The menu is so huge though, making a decision can be tough. Can't go wrong with their all-day breakfast though."

"Although we were there as a family, the comments are about my terrible, expensive brunch! I ordered the scramble bowl with scrambled eggs. It was a plate, not a bowl I received. The salad was fresh but the dressing was terrible! The eggs were some...of the worst looking eggs I ever saw. The bread was advertised as sourdough; they forgot to type in the word, spelt, before sourdough. The worst bread I ever tasted! The only thing so good were the fried potatoes. The reason I said so good was that they mingled with the terrible salad dressing! This is the lowest rating I ever gave any restaurant about its food!"
