"We 've eaten here on numerous occasions and really enjoyed our meals/cakes. Today was a mixed bag. OH had the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon which he pronounced delicious and beautifully cooked. I however made the mistake of ordering the Pork Belly sandwich. It arrived looking very appealing with a lovely piece of crisp cracking on the side. Inside however, the thick slab of pork belly was less appetising. Half was soft, flabby fat which I found impossible to eat. The mayonnaise only increased the fattiness and made the bread unpleasantly greasy so in the end, a few mouthfuls of pork and some small gherkins proved to be an expensive 'meal '. Yes I know I should 've said something at the time but the waitress didn 't ask why I 'd left most of my lunch and the place was too busy for a conversation. Next time I 'll order something different. I 'll just add that the Sunday roast lunches coming out looked amazing"

"We go every week on midday to barkers to eat a meal, a great cappuccino for barbie and a topf earl grey tee for me. nice eating and always a great service of martin, tracy and josh. Our b B customers are recommended to go here when they visit helmsley and they all say a great place. probably the best caffe in helmsley. I'm not here."

"Omg don't no were to start me and husband were staying in the caravan park behind the blackbull it wasn't opened on the Mon Tues. Went in weds night beautiful and cosy inside with very pleasant and friendly staff we didn't make a booking but they fitted us in . We didn't no what to have as all the food they were bringing out looked delicious and all home made . We decided on the l9af tin yorkshire pudding and by eck it was massive there must have been a full cow in it with all the meat you get We couldn't finish it .was absolutely beautiful a guy on the sight told us to have the pork chops next time carnt wait to go again fantastic"

"Drove down for a day trip out on Sunday. Stopped off for a drink initially. But the pub/Hotel is gorgeous. Decided to stay for lunch. Going to book the end of the month to stay over. Staff were supper nice. Food is outstanding. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5"

"Beautiful tea room café right in the center of thornton dale at the beck. outside the seating is a great place to watch people with their beer. inside is cosier for cooler or wintery days and the first etage lounge is stunning. the offer of food is very good and the waitresses are friendly and efficient. a great place to stop after a walk around this stunning chocolate box cake."
