"Sadly, Tripadvisor won't let me add The Fat Fryer, but it's fab. Great value, and the fishcake, chips mushy peas I had was superb. The best chips for miles around. The new owners have done Wistow proud."

"For a pint of dark mild! That's right For a pint of beer. This week. In England. One pound and thirty four pence. There should be a prize or an award or something. A round, with nuts, for four adults and four...kids cost me less than I live in a sad, impoverished, grabbing world where wouldn't buy you the drinks for the adults and I bitterly regret that we were only passing through and didn't have the time to go back. This is what pubs used to be; landlady and locals were all very welcoming and everyone just got on with talking and having a nice time. No worries about taking out a mortgage to get a round in, no concept to try and work out. It could probably do with a bit of a renovation but then it would just be like any other pub leave it as it is! Didn't eat wrong time of day but it was recommended by people where we were staying although there was no food on the day we were there (Monday) I could happily have just lived on the beer at a pint. I don't know how they make the finances work but everyone on the country should be forced to go here just to see what the Pub was like and should be again!!"

"Popped in whilst visiting Tadcaster, the restaurant is spotlessly clean and we received a friendly welcome on our arrival. The food was delicious with a good choice in the menu. The restaurant was busy for a Wednesday night which can only be a good thing....If you like Indian food you won’t be disappointed eating here."

"Lucky for me the layby where Olley parks his trailer is really close to me so a good breakfast sarnie is a real treat. Top quality sausages and bacon plus all the trimmings . A real change from usual cheap roadside cafes . Quality food,...clean and friendly too."

"Booked a table for my sons birthday on a Thursday evening, the place was very busy but we were greeted and seated straight away, the staff were attentive and the whole ambience was perfect. Menu is varied and everything we ordered was perfect, one of the nicest Indian meals I’ve had and this view was shared by us all. To top it off the waiter discreetly took my sons birthday cake and came back with it, lights lowered and a giant sparkler flaring away, to a rendition of happy birthday his face was a picture"

"Not the easiest place to get to, stuck in the middle of nowhere. The road in is always flooded, so we always have to go the long way round. Definitely worth the trip though. The staff are attentive, but not too on top. Some places can really thrash your head, constantly asking if everything is ok, etc. Here at The Rythre, it's fairly casual, but still enough to make every customer feel special. The food is all cooked beautifully and came out timely. I assume the night we went Valentine's Day, is busier than usual. No problems with the service though. The starters were special, very well presented. I had the haggis bon bons. So succulent, they just started falling apart. The sauce accompaniment was spot on. Main courses we shared the 38 ounce T bone. Came very tender and plenty of red on show, just how we like it. My wife was particularly fond of the homemade chips. Very flfuffy and the size of doorsteps. We added extra sides of the onion rings, which came crispier than expected, but they were very nice. Also, some garlic mushrooms, which came nice and soft and slid down our throats. Portions were massive, but I persevered and finished everything. The check wasn't as massive as I expected. All in all a lovely way to spend a special day with the special lady in my life."
