"Two attempted visits, only one of which I even received food (eventually). The first time I attempted to go I was turned away at the door because their fish had gotten too warm during prepping. A month later I tried again. I was part of a small group, first ones there that day. Upon ordering we were told it would be about 20 min for our food. Just over an hour later the food was finally served. The the fish was good, but the fries were soggy and the hush puppies were very dry. I am officially done with this restaurant. Other great fish options to choose from. Zero for two!"

"So the wait time was an hour due to the popularity of the place, no issue as there 's lots to see in the big shop, and 2 bars, the ladies at the lower bar were very nice and friendly one with brown hair in a red checked shirt and the second had black hair, nose ring and a lovely smile, both excellent in helping me decide on which beer to try. The wait wasn 't too long and we decided to share the 22oz with 4 sides, $36 so all good. We were going to buy the 72oz between the 4 of us but the price leaped from $72 to $200!!! Note to the management we would have paid $100-120 for this so we actually paid $84 for our meals so you lost out on $40 from just one table, perhaps you should lower the cost? Food was excellent, steak cooked to perfection. Fresh bread rolls were warm and sweet, so nice. No room for pudding which was a shame as the carrot cake had my name on it. Overall a great experience topped off by 2 performers singing Get your kicks on Route 66 with a violin and a guitar. Loved the heads mounted on the walls, some very imposing. Thoroughly recommend eating here, top place."

"We absolutely loved our dinner at OHMS. We were visiting Amarillo for a couple of days and staying at the Barfield downtown. I researched dinner spots and this place seemed to be the best choice. It was exactly the right choice. I called about two weeks ahead and was able to get reservations at the time we wanted. We started with cocktails. They were both good but the bourbon old fashioned was better than the gin cocktail. And the old fashioned here was better than a similar drink at the Paramount Recreation Club next door, the Speakeasy in the basement of the Barfield that you gain entry by buying Paramount cigarettes from an antique machine (suddenly the door behind you opens and voila you 're in). Back to the main story... For appetizer we shared a special of the night, the crab cakes. They were perfectly seared and they were bursting with crabmeat. Spiced just right. And the accompanying sauce, we wanted to lick the plate clean. They were really good. For the mains, one of us had Elk and the other had Chicken. The Elk, recommended medium rare, was oh so tender and moist. The local mushrooms that accompanied were worthy of their own dish. The risotto at the bottom was also good. Unfortunately the photo doesn 't show a dish as delicious as it was. We were surprised a little that the Elk wasn 't more gamey tasting. It 's not a bad thing, just was a surprise. The chicken was also outstanding. Crunchy and moist. The asparagus was firm but tender, and the mashed potatoes were excellent. I must say it could have used a little more gravy as all that gravy was gone a bit before the chicken was. But then i am a sauce guy. No room for dessert. Would love to visit for dinner again! "The Big Texan Steak Ranch certainly lives up to its name! After seeing many billboards, we decided to stop for lunch last week, and we were not disappointed. The closest thing to this that we can find at home is Texas Roadhouse, but The Big Texan is really so much better. The prices were good, especially the ribeye lunch special (which is what we both ordered). The food was great. The steak was extremely tender and tasty. The sides were great, too, especially the chili— you could tell it was homemade, packed with meat and flavor. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and the other employees in the gift shop area were friendly as well. This is a neat place to stop and take a look around, even if you’re not looking for a meal. There are a lot of Texas-themed gifts as well as some not specific to Texas. They also have a little bakery case there with some delicious and huge slices of cake (we tried the red velvet and it was honestly the best red velvet we’ve had in a while). There’s also an array of sugar cookies decorated with royal icing that also looked delicious, as well as ice cream and fudge."
