"I wandered in wanting a snack, but found the staff didn 't know what was vegan their menu only has a symbol for 'vegetarian '. One item (a brownie) had 'vegan ' in the description and the waitress said it wasn 't, which was confusing! Also things like the apple pie were apparently not vegan. So my options were limited, but in the end I got a nice turmeric latte with coconut milk and an acai whip with fruit. It was nice sitting at the wooden bench out the back in the sun, watching the ocean. It 's table service only, and I waited ages for the acai whip, but I was on a long weekend chilling out so it didn 't matter. The only other disappointment was that the acai whip came in a disposable cup (with 'compostable ' spoon I 've heard these actually take ages to decompose) even if you 're eating in. All in all, not really a vegan vibe here, but good enough if you 're in the area, and it 's a nice setting, with no traffic, and an ocean view out the back."

"Lived on the Gold Coast for over 30 years and have eaten at almost every Thai Restaurant the Coast. THIS IS IT- If it's good quality, generous quantity and good value that you want- GO NO FURTHER!! This is an unknown gem It's in a weird place (in a small block of shops beside a petrol station) but don't let that put you off. Most people wouldn't give it a second glance but anyone who tries it, will not be disappointed. It's where you go for great quality Thai food when you can't be bothered cooking and you need a break. It's not the 'get dressed up for a night out' type dinning It was formerly the Tallie Thai but the new owners have renamed it Silver Thai. Parking is easy and generally available right at the front door. The service can sometimes be a little slow as they don't have many staff but the service is always so friendly & humble with good enough English. The food comes out in good time and is always made of good quality fresh ingredients plus the serving sizes are generous. We love the food and the prices are very reasonable It's not licensed but BYO is welcomed. A lot of there business is take away but they have a number of regulars too. We have taken friends there are they continue to dine there. So the secret is out!! Don't miss this one as you will be really pleasantly surprised"

"I dined at Siam Orchid three years ago and it was one of the best Thai meals of my life.My wife and two children decided to replicate our previous experience while we are visiting the area again but we're very disappointed.I now realise why when we arrived there was so many free tables as previous visits had been extremely hard to book at short notice ... anyway, here goes..!We were seated quite quickly and promptly ordered some table water, mineral water and an Apple Cider. After waiting almost fifteen minutes I went to the bar and asked how our drinks were going and if we could also order our meals. The waitress brought the drinks and when she gave me my Apple Cider she asked if I'd like ice and I said yes, that would be great. We then ordered our food and asked how long it would be as we had two tired kids. We were told no longer than 15 minutes which suits us perfectly.After ten minutes, no ice came and I had finished my Apple Cider. I went to the bar to order a second drink and to remind to bring the ice this time.After 45 minutes and no second drink I went back to the bar and received a look of whoops and her is your drink, but with no ice, oh well, third world problems, the drink was cold enough so I let it go.After a further ten minutes and still no food my wife went to the kitchen to ask how long our food was. She was told one dish was ready but the others hadn't been started yet. My wife proceeded to cancel our order and was told no, you must wait and take the food in takeaway. She said no, paid for the drinks and we left.Extremely disappointed as this place was once the best we had ever had and we as a family eat a lot of Thai food.I do hope the new management can get the wheels back in the bus and restore this place to its former glory."
