"I loved Thai Express when it was opened in my area, but I find the prices too high for what you get. This location in Dartmouth Crossing is larger than many others with beautiful seating and beautiful wall paintings on the walls. I was really impressed by the atmosphere at this point. I also love how vegan friendly and advertised the vegan options are at Thai Express. They have everything that is marked on their menu and even have a vegan chart/image on money and windows. My biggest complaint is the cost. I don't think it's worth the amount you get and you have to pay extra for Tofu. I also found the food pretty bland. I prefer our local Thai restaurant that gives you much better quality and a better bang for your Buck."

"Good place for beer and snacks, lackluster real meals. I had the burger, friends had tacos and the Greek fries. There was a ton of bun and sauce on the burgers, overwhelming any meat flavor. The fried capers were a cool addition to the tacos they looked beautiful and tasted pretty good. Ultimately the food felt a little expensive. The beer selection is great, and the prices are fair. The atmosphere is nice. The service was a tad slow and confused. I think the server might have been new, but everything arrived after a few questions."

"I went with a friend today for the first time as she recommended it's one of her favourites. I am a vegetarian so it's hard to find some hot spicy food in Halifax. I ordered Dan Dan extra spicy with vegetables and my friend ordered Thai Red with Chicken. We decided to do a combo with Spring rolls and soft drinks. The cooked fresh and everything was very delicious. You can add soya sauce as per your taste if you want extra. The place was nice giving a different atmosphere as if you are somewhere else. Although small but very efficient with fast service. I wish they add more Vegetarian options with spices."

"Absolutely the best I have ever had...... I couldn 't disagree more with the past two reviews, however everyone is entitled to an opinion. I first found Modern Orchid in June 2011. Since I ate there the first time, I have returned each and every week atleast once and most weeks more. I drive an hour and one half each way to eat at the Orchid. The owners, Amanda and Phillip are wonderful!! So kind and accomodating to their guests. The service is outstanding, professional and very attentive. Their vision for the restaurant is exciting and I can 't wait to see what comes in the future. The food is absolutely outstanding. Fresh, well presented, beautiful prepared and very tasty. I travel quite extensively and with Asian food being my favorite I have tried from Halifax to Paris to China and back.....the Modern Orchid is without reservation the best I have every had. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone without hesitation or restriction. Must haves on the menu are Salt and Pepper Shrimp, Crispy Spicy Beef, Fresh Salad Rolls, Crispy Beef Cakes, Hunan Chicken, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Moo Shoo Pork, Mango Chicken. Everything on the menu is exceptional. If you have not been to the Modern Orchid put it on your 'must eat there ' list. You will not be disappointed."
