"We were looking for a restaurant for a quick Chaat and tea in the afternoon and found this place in downtown Oakland. They didn't have chai and the food lacked salt. Naan was ok and the matter paneer was below average, lots of spice but not flavorful."

"Went there for lunch and tried the lunch specials. For $11.99 they are not bad at all. Got the chicken tikka masala and the lamb curry. The lamb curry was better. Their naan was very good."

"Very tasty but it is hard to place a phone order as their line has an incredible amount of static! I would also appreciate it if the menu listed *what* spices and herbs are used. It currently says “various” and that isn’t helpful for deciding what dishes might taste like! Not bad for the only Indian/South Asian restaurant in Montclair."

"Shalimar Garden took over former Vegan Tikka Masala space with just minor touch-up. The place stay somewhat unchanged other than a fresh coat of interior paint. Outdoor patio with umbrella and heater set-up for breezy night. Table service is available or you can order first and they'll bring it out. House chai tea is free if dine-in otherwise it's $1.49 to-go. Currently there's a 20% off bill during the entire month of January. I went with lamb biryani $10.99 and samosas (2pcs/$3.99). Portions are shareable for two adults. My biryani had chunks of lamb without marrow with intense spices. Rice are golden yellow as expected with a humongous mound full on plate. Seasoning could be better and rice was a little mushy. I like fluffy near burnt rice and marrow attached for this type of dish. However, they're new while taking in advice given from me in good faith. Samosas are piping hot as freshly fried. I like it even though I would like to see other veggies mixed in instead of just potato. Nevertheless, it's good food with area of improvement, but that'll take time. So whatever review site you're using just go and try it. However, make sure to leave a review afterwards. That's all I asked."

"Ordered 3 times so far. First time I ordered my order was missing the extra chicken, second time it was better. Trying it one more time before I make another review. The flavor is in point, and the bowl is a good size. 4 stars for now! Will make new one for my third order later today!"

"Food is okayish. But my concern is when I bought the Butter Chicken thinking it would look like the pics. It does not and the chicken taste very strange. The Garlic Naan doesnt taste like garlic at all and it only came with one piece. I over all would not recommend if you are "looking to try new things" like I was Ps( I am very familiar with Indian food so I know how its supposed to taste. I was just looking for new restaurants)"
