"Absolutely horrendous. I usually judge a Chinese place by their hot and sour soup and this one is by far the worst in the Baltimore region. The soup, was like the rest of the food, bland, tasteless and the more you eat the more nauseous it makes you feel. We decided to give this place a 2nd try after a sub par first time experience. Bad decision! Really rude when taking my order over the phone which I’m OK with if the food is good and when I went in waited for a while because waitress was clearly engrossed on her phone there was only one table and they were done eating… I saw past reviews and awards from the early 2000s… clearly either their previous chef has left or they changed management entirely… what a scam!"

"Essen Room has huge sandwiches with tons of meat. I recommend getting all the toppings on the sandwiches (lto) and mayo/mustard/etc otherwise they can be a bit dry. The kugel is DIVINE! Easily the best I've ever had. Haven't tried the cakes, but they look amazing, as do all the other pastries. You can't go wrong ordering from/eating here. Prices are cheap for the portions you're getting."
