"Looked at a few cafés for lunch in Lynmouth and Lynton, all seem to be extremely overpriced for what they were offering! We stumbled across the Pie shack , Don’t be put off by it’s size. A really small place at the top of the central thoroughfare in Lyton, what a find, and such a lovely lady that runs it, we had FRESH, oven cooked NOT microwaved Lamb Pastie with salad and coleslaw a vegetarian beetroot, chickpea and cheese pie again with a lovely salad, both were absolutely delicious and whilst we waited on the bench outside for the food to heat 10mins or so , free coffee was available. Well done I really couldn’t recommend you highly enough "

"Had a pastie and coffee here, outside seating only, clear your own table. The dog was allowed in the garden, I personally (based on other places in the area) found this place to be a little overpriced given the level of service, but that said...the food and drinks were ok."

"Unfortunately, my experience wasn 't great. Johns closes at 17.30 and I walked through the doors with my baby at 17:15 only to be made to feel like I shouldn 't be there. The young lady (blonde, around 18 years old) huffed when I came to the till with a handful of deli items. I actually had to ask if they were still open because that 's the energy that came across. I felt rushed, there was no eye contact or chat, I tried to make light of the awkwardness I felt but she never cracked a smile. John 's isn 't cheap, I spent about £30 on different deli products. In 1 arm I had my baby and the other I was balancing salami, cheeses, olives etc yet I was never offered a bag!!! So strange. She immediately walked away once I was served without a 'thank you or bye '. I left feeling deflated as I really like to support the locals. On this occasion I wish I had shopped else where. Disappointing."

"We enjoyed lattes and flapjack on arrival, the staff were cheerful even though there was a sudden rush of customers. We went back and had soup for lunch which was good with lovely fresh bread there was seating outside as well as indoors."

"This is a beautiful classic British tee room. the host are amazing and so friendly and welcoming. eating is classic original British eating without the imagination, but it is served with love. so nice to find a well made sandwich, cream tea or classic lunch. the milkshakes are also quite good!"
