"This cafe is a gem of a place and we visit often. The food is delicious, the choice varied and I defy anyone to refuse a dessert! However, today’s visit was spoilt again by the manager/owner (we think he was). While folk were eating he...vacuumed the carpet, clip clopped his way around the tables like a sergeant major (wooden floors crepe soles would be better) replacing cutlery etc and removing used dishes while people were still eating which, in out case, was very off-putting and uncomfortable. Please sir, if you read this, address the issues or you will be losing a group of regular customers to elsewhere."

"Lovely cafe. Good range of hot breakfast and lunch items. Plus excellent selection of cakes and ice creams. Decor is cosy and clean. Plenty of tables and still spacious too. Staff friendly and attentive. Prices very reasonable for the quality of the food. Photo of strawberry tiramasu which was delicious."

"This Subway chain is situated behind King street, which is the main shopping street in shields. The sandwiches are lovely and there is a lot of choice. Infact too many choices. The service is good but there are often queues as everyone gets asked their individual questions so this slows the pace considerably. The dining area itself is quite small but we've never had a problem getting a table as most people take their meals away. The foot long sandwich is on the expensive side but is very filling and as you get asked what you would like at every stage of the sandwich you know you're going to be very happy with your healthy sandwich."

"One of the loveliest places I've stayed. Comfy bed, wonderful room. Friendly and helpful staff. I would stay here again in a minute and highly recommend it to anyone visiting South Shields. "Beautiful place with pleasant personal, responsive, relaxed atmosphere. we went down the stairs and the lift up. we only had drinks. they have to pay and display for parking. that's the only negative I can think of. the beach was clean and nice to respect. I would recommend it."
