"Overbooked on the first night, stayed in rooms 1 & 9 for the second night (Worst rooms ever) , no soap or shower gel (advised it had been on order for a month)broken toilet seat, shower head did not move, in the morning there was not even a good morning from the owner. The guard dogs bed is in the restaurant and when my wife went to ask for coffee the dog pounce out of the dark toward her, the owner did not ever say sorry only patting the dog and put it back on its bed. We moved out. We would not recommend this hotel"

"I always like to try to write a fair review, and I 've waited over two months to write this review until everything post stay was sorted out. We stayed at the hotel in July for a family wedding, the hotel itself was nice and charming, the room comfortable with a double bed for my husband I and a single bed for our 2.5 year old son. Parking was good with a small car park located to the side of the hotel and a larger expansion car park over the road. The staff were very pleasant, and though a few didn 't speak much English, and my French is not very good, we muddled along with a spattering of sign language and broken words, to somewhat entertaining ends (on both sides! . We had dinner in the restaurant during our stay, and they were good at accommodating a large group of us, and entertaining our son with some crayons and a colouring book. Food was a bit trickier, we ordered a set children 's meal for my son, which consisted of a starter, main and dessert (for a very good price of €8 . Unfortunately he didn 't get his starter, though we followed it up, but his main came out with ours (sadly at this point because others in our party had ordered starters, it was 1.5 hours on from ordering and our 2 year old was getting very tired and cranky . He managed to eat a bit of his meal, and we asked for his dessert to be brought out so my husband could take him up to bed. We waited for 30 minutes and still no dessert, so my husband took our son to bed and I followed up on the dessert. Though it still hasn 't arrived 40 minutes later when our party called it a night and asked for the bill. So not a great value meal after all. That said they were good with my requests, as a 23 week pregnant lady I had asked for my meat to be well cooked, it wasn 't when delivered but I raised this and it was promptly taken to the kitchen and cooked some more. Breakfast was okay, a couple of the yogurts in the fridge were out of date, so be careful as it 's not something you tend to look at, unless you 're pregnant or have a toddler. But otherwise the selection was nice with a range of breads, meats and juices. Overall the stay read pleasant and I would have given a 4 star review at this point, unfortunately I hit major issues after the stay. On leaving the hotel, I settled our bill for our stay and the restaurant meal. Then on return back home after the holiday I found I 'd also been charged on my reservation holding card for another amount £239 's worth. I immediately emailed the hotel and explained that I thought they might have double charged me as I 'd settled my bill on departure, but also that it was for a different amount (our bill was around £180 . The response came back to say, yes there had been an error by one of the members of staff and I 'd been charged for another guests room. No great but they 'd admitted the error, so I asked for a refund of this payment as it wasn 't anything to do with me, to which the response was can you contacted the other person and get the money from them ???? Admittedly this person was also a guest at the wedding we were going to but I did not know them very well, and it certainly wasn 't my place to go chasing money that had been incorrectly taken from my bank account. I again explained this, even translating it into French with the help of a friend, in case language was being a barrier, and asked for the money to be refunded, but sadly got no response. Since then I 've had to raise a chargeback with my bank, providing copious amounts of paperwork as evidence to my claim, and I finally got my money returned by my bank last week. It is just such a shame that what had been a pleasant stay was marred by such an aftermath."
