"Ombra has always been one of our favorite restaurants in Hilton Head. I’m afraid that ended last night. For starters, the five of us all ordered three different salads only one was considered good. The panzanella salad was terrible a bunch of cutup tomatoes with a few hardasarock croutons, a slice of dry cheese and no,flavor. The Caprese was strange a couple of dollops of some sort of basil reduction in the corners of the plate not enough to impart any taste topped with red peppers and for some reason sprouts? The Caprese really needed salt and pepper that was never offered and not on the table. The only good salad was the Pear and Gorgonzola salad and it was excellent. For main courses, three of our group had the salmon special and two had veal dishes. The salmon was merely OK but the veal was quite good. Our service was slow and inattentive. We ordered our wine for dinner at the same time we ordered cocktails before even ordering dinner. We had to ask twice to get the wine delivered after our meals came and we were almost half done before it arrived. Normally we would have had two bottles for five but not last night. It’s too bad the food and service did not match the ambiance. I’m afraid we will not be back as there are lots of other choices"
