"We came for lunch; this time it was a new chef who did a good job, although not as skilled as the regular lunch chef. Mu shu shrimp had too much cabbage as filler altho tasty. Dan Dan mein 's sauce was tasty but not quite right; too light on the soya to balance the bean sauce, and pls drop the edamame and water chestnuts, ugh. Beef HK-style chow mein was an okay version: noodles deep-fried instead of a true griddled 'noodle pillow ', but gravy was good altho a little too intense (Cantonese requires a light touch compared to Northern-style cooking . The dumplings are very good here; the XLB are a half order, not cheap but they are the best in the EBay--the pork is rich, firm and sweet. Shrimp-chive boiled dumplings also excellent. There are many dishes Chu does extremely well, such as the Gan Shao Lamb, bitter melon, and custard tofu beef sauce, which are from the regular menu or available as specials. We do miss those oxtail dumplings, too (hint, hint, chef! ."

"This one is a bit difficult to review because there are a lot of factors coming into play for this review. Overall I 'd give this place 3.5 stars, but I 'm deciding to round down to 3, and here 's why: customer service: it was like the military in there. Very strict and not really friendly in my perspective. The person in front of me was struggling to order and was just asking simple questions such as if one of the sausages was spicy or not, to which the cashier lady said, I don 't know, whatever it says there. And then she repeated the question, Do you want just the sausage or as a combo? 3 times with a slight attitude of annoyance. She didn 't have much patience for customers; makes me not want to go back if I feel bullied just from ordering. Then it got to my turn and thankfully I was prepared but she just wanted answers quick. It was not a welcoming ordering experience. Behind me, it was a cop that ordered next. the cashier then made a bad joke before he ordered, putting her hands up and saying, Whatever it is I didn 't do it officer! to which he did not laugh. pricing: as the youngins say, expensive 'AF '. 1000% not worth the price. Everything is over priced. Combos are supposed to be a value for you, but the combos just made your meal even more expensive. The cheapest thing I got was $9.50, for essentially a hot dog with 2 toppings (I had relish and onions). It was maybe worth $4.50 at most. MAYBE. Totally got jipped. I feel like paying $9.50 for what I got, it should have been A5 Wagyu hot dogs. I also ordered pretzel sticks for $7. Honestly, not as bad of a deal, but for the 3 sticks that you get along with the 2 actually generous sized dips, it should be $4.50-5 for fair pricing. timing: I placed my order at 1:11pm and it was ready by 1:22pm. I understand that they had to maybe bake my pretzel sticks so that they 're fresh and cook up the sausage nicely, but 10 minutes still seemed like a long time for just a single hot dog. I 'm used to Costco having your hot dog ready to go in seconds, or even Top Dog heating up your dog and taking 5-6 minutes, but not 10. It 's not just the pretzel sticks that caused the delay either, because the person in front of me that ordered a combo also got his food 1 minute before I did. taste: I ordered the cheddar brat (smoked pork and white cheddar) and what I did not expect was to burn my tongue and mouth every single bite. There should be a disclaimer of some sort. The outside of the dog was already warm/cooled down, but biting it releases oozing cheese that I would normally be praising, but in this case every time I bit into it, hot lava cheese came out and burned my tongue and mouth--it was really annoying. No way you could just blow on it because the outside was already cooled down. I didn 't expect to bite into it and burn myself doing so..... I do like the variety of add-ons you can add in addition to the 2 included toppings. You can add your own ketchup, dijon, spicy brown, garlic mayo, curry ketchup, or honey wasabi dijon (which is what I got). Not a bad variety to choose from. Then for the pretzel sticks, the flavor was nice when they 're warm, along with the house beer cheese and honey mustard dipping sauces. The beer cheese was good but not great. I was confused because of the coloring. It looks like it would be sweet like white frosting on a cinnamon roll but instead it 's beer cheese. The dijon mustard was ehh...I would have rather added in one of the other sauces from the pumps. I would totally go back to try out other flavors of sausages. But not at these ridiculous prices. A one and done for me."

"The woman that is a cook here is a horrible cook. How hard is it to make a good shawarma? not hard at all, lots of place make them now but somehow she ruin the food every time. soggy, tasteless shawarma. No smile and terrible cook. No wonder they are losing business to the other places. lazy cooks make for less money. Now when I see she is working I keep driving and go down the street. much better quality meat down the road... not cooked over and over drying out. It is too bad our company used to order lots of lunches here but now they order elsewhere and I now see why. ."

"Took a party of 10 to a pre-fixe experience in gastronomy for my parents 50th golden anniversary. We'd been wanting an excuse to visit for at least a decade and it didn't disappoint! Excellent service and wine pairing by our personal sommelier/maitre de being a key delight. Although all dishes weren't wildly enjoyable to everyone, they were all very creative and memorable. For me, I especially disliked the tamarind jelly dessert (reminded me of a sour patch kid, and I wasn't expecting that at all), but I typically dislike desserts and it certainly was surprisingly striking and very flavorful! The hamachi tartare and trout roe with avocado appetizers were my favorites. The bone marrow pho would have been equally satisfying had it not been presented in a bone and not looked and felt in my mouth obviously like bone marrow/beef fat."

"Tapas came without the bread we ordered (bread is not an extra.. the waitress simply forgot it. The Paella came after a minute wait after the tapas were already eaten, so a solid minute wait time after the order was made. Paella was cold on the inside, cold outside so I think it was just sitting there for a while. Half of restaurant was empty so no excuse... Overall disappointing. They ran out of the desert we wanted to order, which is minor but still the cherry on top... It was oakland restaurant week with a fix menu so I rate them a for poor planning."
