"I was in the area doing my weekly shopping and I drove by El Fogon de Charlotte and decided to finally check it out after months of driving by. It looked like there were a couple of single diners there and being solo myself, I hoped to find a bit a conversation along with my lunch. After passing through the usual covid checkpoint at the door I selected a seat near a couple of other solo diners. The menu offered a good selection of grilled meat dishes and some shrimp dishes as well. The pizza section of the menu was quite impressive and I noted that for future reference. The waiter efficiently took my order for coconut shrimp and I relaxed to enjoy a nice glass of cabernet sauvignon while I waited. In no time I had a nice conversation going with both solo diners on either side of myself and the wait time for my meal quickly passed. Both of the other diners were regulars and repeat business like that is always a good indicator of a good restaurant. My shrimp arrived and they were delicious. Only one small thing set back my rating on this restaurant and that was the battle against flies. The restaurant is an indoor/outdoor kind of place and it would be hard to slow down the flies without some real aggressive action. But other than that, I was delight with the restaurant, the service, the food and the other friendly diners I found there. I will definitely return to try out their grill specialties in the near future."

"Great discovery in the centre of Tlayacapan right next to the cerería. Diverse menu that stretches from the Mexican classics through to Spanish tapas and pizzas/pasta - truly something for everyone's taste. We tried the cecina, arrachera and the sopa de tortilla and all were delicious - it's obvious that the owners take care over the quality of the food and it's presentation. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the dishes. They also boast more than 60 Mexican craft beers, and a wide selection of tequilas and mezcales, with some of the latter available "a granel", that's to say, from small barrels. They have Tobalá, Espadin, Madre Cuixe, all excellent.We ate in the afternoon, but chatting to the owner he told me they have regular events in the evenings, from live music to theme nights, and information on these can be found updated on their Facebook page. There is a terrace outside for al fresco dining (bring a thick sweater as the temperature plummets at night) and tables inside for a more intimate ambience.We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and will definitely be returning, the combination of tasty well-prepared food, decent beer and mezcal would be a winning combination in any Mexican town or city, but to stumble across this place in the centre of Tlayacapan was our best surprise of the Christmas holidays. We haven't been very often to this town, but we'll surely be returning more frequently from now on."

"We were there years ago and ma have they put it together. Homemade pasta made to order with fresh vegetable or classic sauces, or salads. I had Bolognaise (fettuccine) and my wife had angel's hair with herbs and shrimp. Both very good- really surprisingly so give the look as it is somewhat bland. there weren't many wine choices - red or white. but this is an excellent place for a good lunch. Our hosts had a chicken Caesar and herbed angel hair pasta. The dishes going to the other tables looked ..and smelled good too. Good bread, too. It's nothing fancy - no date night material but for a good honest bowl of good pasta- top of the list! It's lunch only - closes at 4 pm"

"My burger was great. Friends California burger, alfredo pasta dishes super delicious. My husband's steak burger okay he said ground meat expecting steak. Wine was virtually non existent one very small glass of white each before they ran out. No red wine. Margaritas not on the menu, but Alfredo made some, delicious! Need nice big glasses of red or White House wine. Very small unpretentious hole in the wall, but food was good. The menu is extensive, very reasonable and word is spreading that Alfredo's California Restaurant is super."
