"A few months ago, I went to Santa Monica for a morning interview. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite the way I would have liked it, but that's how it is sometimes. When I felt in a contemplative mood, I decided to go home the usual highway and decided to take a leisure trip along the Pico Boulevard to the east. After not having breakfast and approached the lunchtime near, I decided that if I saw an interesting hole in the wall restaurant along the way, I would stop for food. It seemed like I was driving for a long time and yelling with my belly, nothing caught my eye until I saw the sign, just “World Famous Oki-Dog”. The neighborhood was a bit devastated and this fast food joint looked a little down, but there was something about the words “Oki-Dog” that pulled me in. In my head I tried, through thousands of Chowhound posts I have read, and past TV shows that I have seen that focused on unusual hot dogs in the USA trying to remember what an Oki dog, but pulled a complete blank. Finally, I decided to park and try. After all, I had no idea when I was back in this part of the city. Coming from an interview, I would say that I was dressed quite nicely, so I definitely got out and got my share of stars when I went to the counter, both from customers and counter staff. However, undefeated and with confidence, I ordered the Oki's Dog with cheese and sat on waiting for my order. Soon my order was finished and when I took up the paperboard and brought it to my table, I saw that my Oki-dog was kind of flat and was wrapped in a yellow paper. When you look at it, a memory began to form and it hit me that an Oki Dog was a Burrito dog. Of course, taking it from his wrapper confirmed it, but then I also remembered that there was more to this Oki Dog that hit the eye. I took the Oki-Dog and ate my way along the edge of the Burritos, put it back on the plate and took a look. Ah-ha! Now everything came back. Yes, there were hot dogs, but included were also pastrami, chili and cheese, all packed in a pretty good tortilla. I think my arteries were afraid. But in this case there was a hungry belly and taste buds ready to act, and I ended my entire Oki-Dog to the last bite. Did I enjoy my Oki-Dog? I bet. The chili was actually an exit for me. It had a lot of taste and had a little warmth. If I ever went so far, I could see how I ordered chili cheese frits and was really a happy camper. I also liked the easy chewiness of the pastrami and the skill of the hot dogs. Generally, I'm glad I made a stop at the world-famous Oki-Dog. While I wouldn't drive all the way from the Eastside just for an Oki-dog, that doesn't mean that I wouldn't consider making a stop if I was just random in the neighborhood. If you happen with the blue and white sign, you should also check it yourself. Just don't tell your arteries that I encouraged you."
