"This is my go to place for vegan Ethiopian food. The food is amazing with its flavor, and they have vegan meat options like tibs or kitfo. On top of that, their desserts have vegan options in a classic European pastry style that is better than any other vegan desserts of that style anywhere, period. So why not go? Well, the route to getting out of the District might be challenging. It 's not in the most walker friendly location, but, trust me, it 's worth it. This is bar none my favorite Ethio joint in all of the DC metropolitan area because of the vegan desserts and attention to vegan food choices on the menu. They use fake meats and tofu for those who don 't want just a regular veg sampler of gomen war, atalkilt wot, shiro wat, kik alicha or mesir wot. They don 't have many appetizer choices for any diners, but be patient and maybe order more main course dishes! It 's worth the wait! Plenty of tasty injera to sop up the sauces and food they will bring more as you need it, but I appreciate they don 't dump it all on top of you because some may waste it. As you are dining, there are TV 's for entertainment… but not really a reason to go. You will also see many expats, taxi drivers and locals coming in and out of the restaurant and cafe/ bakery portion, as well as the takeout in the middle for injera or food pantry basics. Cakes are usually 1 of the following: mocha (chocolate and vanilla layers with cream plus coffee infusion), fruit cake (yellow cake with cream and fresh fruit on top), or rum cake (yellow cake with rum frosting and phyllo on top). There are a few other rotating choices. They are small slices, as cakes should be, and very reasonably priced very!! The cookies are also super reasonably priced in the classic piped pastry style of jam filled sandwich cookies (apricot or raspberry), along with sables (think butter cookies) that are plain, sugared or blended with chocolate and even palmiers/ angel wings. YUM. This place is the best vegan choice for Ethiopian in the District 's metropolitan area. Go there for the savory traditional Ethiopian fare and DEFINITELY don 't forget dessert in fact, I always get some to go…."

"My man and I ordered the veggie combo that was very tasty. we thought the split yellow heaps would be great. I loved the cauliflower, carrot and carrot; my man loved the red lens shell (sorry we forget to write name.) the server was polite and sat outside, what we appreciate since we try to socially distance. I'm not sure they usually do this, but we still appreciated it. She also left a pitcher on the table for us. At first she wore no masks but later one. the food was delicious, but we were slightly disappointed by the portion size. we ate all enjera they gave us, and the enjera that was served the food. the Curries/Salads themselves were all good (we loved the salat dressing on the fresh salat,) but we wished that the portions were larger so that we did not have to fill on enjera. another smaller complaining is that the waitress was a bit slow to take our order and seemed to forget when we were out. we wounded to pay because we waited for them and had to go. no big thing, only a little inconvenience. overall it is a beautiful restaurant with good food. they had some decent COVID-19 measures. we would definitely recommend!"

"I ordered a Peri-Peri chicken bowl, which didn't have much chicken and was filled with rice. I got the corn as a side and it barely had any corn on it. It was mostly the stump and didn't have much corn to eat. It was not filling since the corn was so small. Lastly, I feel like the food was a bit over-priced for such small portions."

"I’m gonna be honest, my family chose this place for a birthday lunch for an older relative and I was not thrilled. The ambiance leaves much to be desired. Lighting is horrible and there were random boxes everywhere (we were sat in the room in the back on the right when you enter). But this place redeems itself with the staff and food. Everyone enjoyed their meal and my mom even asked if they sold their honey mustard because she loved it so much. The chicken fried chicken, green beans, okra, mashed potatoes, chicken gumbo, rolls, and cornbread were all amazing! We took a large group photo at the end and the two waitresses worked together to situate everyone for a perfect shot. Great experience but they could work to spruce the place up!"
