"Let me start this review by stating that I can only imagine for a lacto-vegetarian, this place must be amazing! my man and I went late afternoon, an hour or so before the buffet ended, and it was still swung with people! we had to wait for a table, and it wasn't even the height of lunch! not only that, but it is a very popular place at people who speak with the authenticity of eating. after said, it is not a very vegan friendly situation. while I have read reviews below that say differently when I called earlier to confirm that it is what we could eat on the buffet, the person seemed to be extremely satisfied. he said he thought there were two or three things. when we arrived, as I did in the vegetarian buffet, I asked one of the server to walk through the vegan items on the buffet. he didn't seem to be sure, so I asked another one who made me through. again he did not seem to be sure (and he was not compatible with the last server.) I wondered if a manager has run through me . . again did not identify the same amount of vegan friendly items. objects that should have been vegan, we were told that only a little milk. we found that all 3 individuals had pointed out a common object and the rice. we were very disappointed. if we hadn't been a hurry to make it a date, we might have sat down and run through the menu in detail. . . . or gone somewhere."

"For a little neighborhood restaurant, Villa Mozart can compete with the best of downtown DC. I loved my tuna tartare, which tasted fresh and had a hint of sesame oil. My rack of lamb was exquisite. Three large chops were coated in parmesan and flawlessly prepared, rare, juicy and tender. It was easy the best rack of lamb I have ever eaten . It was served on a crunchy race-cake bed, similar to the prized rice at the bottom of a Chinese rice cooker but better. The silken puree of green peas was so delectable I wished there 'd been more. The only negative was the basil sponge that accompanied a richly chocolate mousse. Both the texture and flavor of the sponge was like putting dandelion fluff in your mouth. I 'd have preferred more mousse and no sponge. This is definitely a restaurant I will recommend to others."

"We had two in our party with dairy allergies, one vegetarian. Our server checked carefully with the kitchen and came back with 5 'safe ' main dish recommendations and the surprising information that they usually add milk to the rice! We ordered 4 of the 5 recommended entries, all delicious; a roti (fresh made dairy-free bread) for each of us; and the chef made milk-free rice just for our table. Thank you, Tandoori Nights!"
