"General The ITO is located in the rooms of the former restaurant “Sorgenfrei” in the Belgian district. I liked lunch a long time ago. I rarely had contact with Japanese cuisine. But I heard a lot of good things about the new place in Cologne. Chef Kengo Nishimi learned the craftsmanship in his home country. He then gained experience in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Finally he came to Düsseldorf, where he worked for several years at the prestigious Japanese chef Yoshizumi Nagaya. He also met Torben Schuster, where he moved to the “Gut Lärchenhof” to Pulheim. Peter Hesseler has the “La Société” next to the “Gut Lärchenhof”. And now he opened his third location with Ito. The gourmet table notes reported very positively about the new restaurant some time ago. And Carsten Henn from the Cologne city display also praised the kitchen; he even gave 6 out of 6 stars. Michelin also mentions the house and GaultMillau awards 2 black hoods for 2022. There were only 2 members for our little Kenner Club. After all, our enjoyment always begins with a lunch. There are some outdoor seating on the street. We'd better be inside. When you enter the house, the counter is right. There the “master” appears clearly visible to the fish. We had reserved and got two tables for selection in the first room next to the counter. In the window we found it well and settled there. The facility is simple, but very tasteful for me. In addition to the seats in this area, there are other seats in the back of the house. There are about 40 people. At this noon all places were occupied in return. Cleanliness Everything works well maintained. The toilets are flat to reach. They're back. Everything was clean and tidy. Service Place A lady and two men took care of the guests. Both were friendly and empathic. They were always in place when it was necessary – and left the guests alone, so I like it. The Nigiri were also very pleasant. There were three kinds of fish I think: laughing, tuna and trout maybe. I had the fish side carefully in Soy. It tasted very good again. With the small inlaid ginger pieces I could “fresh” the mouth after every bite. The Wasabi Paste was too sharp for me – I just tried one, that was enough. The ginger did the rest. The girls were guarded. I have to admit that I was very done with this band. The next two courses were not very “Asia”. But we didn't. On the contrary, they also enjoyed us. Main dish of the day – cod, tomatoes, vegetables, butter herbal sauce The fish was buttery and creamy. The small tomatoes were surprisingly strong in the sweeter flavors; I rarely tasted her. It must be a wonderful variety. Next were tiny salad slices. And from baked dough there were two crispy “finger hats” on the plate. The sauce was pretty rich and allied, easy. Dessert – Cheesecake, Ice, Strawberry A red berries sauce was poured out circularly on the plate. In the middle was the creamy cheesecake. Then followed strawberry pieces on the turret. No wonder, because the legend said they were up to a zip hat (where I prefer not to say anything about the Netiquette completely naked. The wife of a tailor was so curious that she put a trap on the good home spirits to observe them. From then on, the little ones left, and all the people have to work themselves (a shame is that!
