"I was completely blown away by this place. I am a big fan of sharing dishes and the eclectic menu they have made it an extremely fun time. While the atmosphere was charming and relaxed, I could tell the staff was laser focused on making it an amazing experience and they succeeded for us. Every dish we got exceeded my expectations. They are clearly very passionate about this restaurant and I'll definitely be stopping by again next time I'm in town."

"I ended up eating alone as my dining companion was ill. Never once was I made to feel odd or uncomfortable; my waiter, Terry, was very attentive and helped me choose wines by the glass to complement the food I had ordered. I had been to Monarque before so knew that the menu is designed with three courses in mind. I started with the Tuna Tartare which was served with foie gras custard and a cardamom shard. It was superb. I was sorely tempted to order another instead of dessert. My next course was veal sweetbreads with cauliflower, salsa verde, and sultanas. This seemed an unlikely combination but they worked well together with the sharpness of the salsa verde balancing the sweetness of the sweetbreads and cauliflower. My main course was Quebec bison with celeriac, black garlic, and shallots. Here was the only flaw the bison was very tasty but a little on the tough side. I will definitely visit Monarque whenever in Montreal."

"Delicious, inventive food (it’s a fixed menu, based on the ingredients of the season, with 2 appetizers and a choice between two entrees and two desserts, but accommodations are made upon request), perfect wine pairings, a cozy, elegant setting (the building is former rectory and Sunday school of St. Joseph’s Church, built in 1861 and tucked away on a quiet, verdant lane in Little Burgundy), and a warm, friendly, impeccable service. One of my best meals in Montreal."

"It wasn't bad, average food. We had the steamed dumplings which were tasty. For our main I had the birds nest chicken and Chinese veggies and my boyfriend had the beef satay. All pretty good. Although I'm not sure if the birds nest itself was edible cuz it most certainly didn't taste it. Service was okay.<br/>I would come back but it wouldn't be one of my first choices."

"This is the third time I've tried this resto: twice for lunch and once for dinner. The beet salad my friend ordered for lunch was very strange. The beets were drained of colour and the dressing tasted strange. The flavours didn't go well at all and it was a very unappetizing plate to look at.Went with some friends to celebrate a birthday. Service is very slow and disorganized. The menu is limited and the dishes were okay. One person ordered a burger and enjoyed it a lot. I had the tandoori chicken and it was tasteless--it had a lot of spice but no taste. Overall, disappointing and not going back."
