"Just popped in for a drink and a look at the menu for a later date. The pub still looks like it’s stuck in the 80s with the decor and carpets inside. However the food looks lovely and the menu is very reasonable although we never ate here that is only because I had my fussy child with me who didn’t really like anything on the menu. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of benches outside where you can enjoy your drink with your dogs if the weather is nice. We went to go again on a Sunday evening around 7 before bank holiday Monday and it was closed not sure if this is a regular closure or we was just unlucky."

"We have visited this restaurant twice in the last two years each time it’s got worse. I thought we would try one last time as Barney is limited with choice and we were late bookers. Oily starters, cheese slices in the cheese garlic naan tasted like plastic and every dish tasted like a veg curry, tough meat and every main dish was not finished. Even the dog would have turned its nose up at this!! It’s ok though because we will take the naan off the bill and give you an extra chocolate. Won’t visit again, if you know anything about food, Indian or otherwise swerve this place like the wind."

"We found this absolute gem of a place a few months back and have been back regularly since. Food is absolutely beautiful, highly doubt you’ll finder a nicer one anywhere near! The staff are so lovely and the service is great. We thoroughly enjoy every visit as a family and even our children ask to go back often."

"Many thanks for the fabulous service and friendly reception. it was my first visit as I had coffee and cake for two. my son had a sausage roll and I had a gluten-free bread roll to begin with a fried egg. both were beautiful. the gluten-free chocolate cake was delicious. I will return"

"Fabulous murals complement the decor. Rustic bar setting. Bar meal choices were varied. Chicken and leek pie was a firm favourite as half of us chose it! Staff quickly moved tables to ensure we could all sit together. Enjoyable evening catching up with everyone's news. Friendly atmosphere."

"We decided to give our native Indians an attempt for the first time in years. fab takeaway experience and eat. very friendly staff, all 8 items we ordered (there was a 7 court for Sunday night) were beautiful. the 2 groups I sat, looked to enjoy myself."

"We arrived in a busy Durham (students starting at Uni) for a meal at Alishaans. When we arrived at 5.30pm it was empty when we left it was packed out. It’s a very popular restaurant, and we can see why. Great location, smart interior, great, helpful staff and most important, the food was excellent. We had 2 courses each, a mixed platter Alishan, (tikka chicken, veg pakora, sheek kebab and a small bhuna prawn on puri) for my daughter and tandoori king prawn for me. For mains my daughter had tikka chicken Makhoni and I had the Tikka chicken Kharai. We had rice, chips, poppadoms and naan breads as sundries. All of the meal was spot on with the staff able to help with the choices. There is a sister restaurant in Sunderland too which is closer to our home but we’d have no problem visiting both. A great treat out."
