"Service was inconsistent with one highly informed and friendly server and another indifferent. Although there were few customers, both took their time checking on us. Food was a huge disappointment. We ordered the chef 's menu as it was my friend 's birthday. Parsnip ginger soup for amuse bouche was tasty. Things went downhill when we were served floppy prawns that were so off that we both spit them out. They left a lingering pungent aftertaste that spoiled the meal. The prawns were clumsily replaced with a mid-meal charcuterie board of funky greasy salamis. Next came a plate of cold, bland steak with a smear of room temperature pepper puree. We ate a few bites but it wasn 't good enough to take home. A beet panzanella salad left us coughing vinegar. Dessert was a unimpressive banana ice cream cake. The wine pairing were quite delicious, but an offer to bring the labels by for a photo was forgotten. I failed to complain about all but the prawns as I didn 't wish to spoil my very polite friend 's birthday evening. The overall impression was that this $55/person menu existed to use up leftover vegetables and pass off cold discount proteins. I tried to stretch my budget and treat a friend and was humiliated to have brought her to this place."
