"Rude Staff and Very Poor Customer Service

I called Kazbah at about 10:00pm on Christmas day to see
what time they take last orders and if we can get there about 10:15 - 10:30 for
a shisha and few drinks (No food) and they said that they will be taking last orders
beteween 10:30 - 11:00pm and they will close about midnight. I told them I will
be there at 10:30 and they said no worries see you soon.

I get there at 10:30pm and I am then told they have no room
outside even though there was a table free. I asked to see the manager and I
spoke to him and he said I can take the table. I went and sat down and the guy
serving came up to me and rudely said "Who said you can take this
table?" I told him I spoke to the manager and explained that I called up
and there was no mention over the phone that there was no room and that they
will see us soon. I was ready to order but the guy serving said he will be
back. He then chose to ignore me and serve 2 other tables which had already
ordered and had their shisha and drinks on their tables. I try to order at the
counter as they close at midnight and with the lack of customer service it is
about 10:50 at this stage. Same guy then comes up to me and goes go back to
your table and I will come to you. So I waited another 5-10minutes and he
finally comes to take my order. I order a few drinks and a fresh pineapple
shisha ($60 + $3 for a disposable hose).

When that arrives the coals they used were mostly black and
they said the new ones are coming shortly. I then take the rubber seal out of
the shisha to put on the disposable hose and find out it hasn't been cleaned
and has all dew from previous sessions. I cleaned it with a tissue and started
the shisha and then another waiter comes with the new coal and he takes off the
current coal and puts them directly on the side of the pineapple head as it
took up the whole tray. I had to ask him to remove them and put them in his coal
holder as they would burn through the side of the pineapple head. As he places
the new coals my partner realises that he had poked a 2 holes straight through
the foil with the tongs. I had to ask him to remake the head which he didn't
understand so I told him to call over the manager. Instead he calls over his
workmate that was rude to us from the very beginning. He ended up taking the
pineapple head back in. As he took it off I realised how filthy the shisha was
(Please refer to the photos). Looks like they never clean them out. I get the
pineapple head back about 10minutes later (Not sure if they repacked it or just
re-foiled it). I also noticed that they have removed the ball bearings from the
shisha's so that the customers cannot empty out the excess smoke from the base
chamber. They have jammed in a napkin which doesn't allow the user to release
the smoke. Overall rubbish service, very unclean shisha's and rude staff."

"Really good Lebanese food. Their vegetarian options were tasty and they had alot of choice. We had to dine inside as it was way too loud in the smoking area, but my only complaint"

"There are not many places that serve good falafels. They are either too dry or falls apart on when you pick it up. Also they always serve hot samples, which encourages you to buy it."

"I've been to Est twice- for the dinner tasting menu and lunch à la carte, so my review below is based on both experiences.

Service is fairly good. Staff are largely attentive, helpful and friendly, although there were a few instances of forgetting our requests.

Ambience and decor are very nice, creates a lovely setting to relax and catch up with friends. In the day especially, the light pours in through the tall windows and creates a lovely bright mood.

Unfortunately the food and drinks can be a hit or miss. Some of the dishes were quite nice and some really were not (found quite a few to be too salty, too dry). Some of the cocktails were not great either (e.g. mine tasted too similarly to Thai green curry for my preference!)

Overall-- Est is great for service, ambience and environment, but you'll find better food and drink elsewhere."
