"On advice from Mr. Ferraaris (a restaurant with a sundial drink) I go to this restaurant run by valentino, a great chef from the past in Ascona. Beautiful location, the terrace is, although small, very warm and welcoming. The service is up to the room and the kitchen has impressed me a lot. I'll come back very gladly."

"Very well located this place can boast also a superb interior and atmosphere. Wonderful and courteous service adds up to the experience without a doubt. But the food... absolutely delicious. We had ordered two types of pasta one with deer and the other one with...truffle, which were excellent to the fullest extent. Then we opted for an octopus and it was one of the best we had ever tried before. So my advice be sure to visit this place, it is well worth it!"

"Nice place with table with lake view, clean place and good service (just a bit slow) Some good selection of pasta, meat/fish, salads and desserts Good portions but a little expensive but, probably, aligned with the area We took 2 risotto food was not exceptional but ok. "The ristorante was good, it just continued to fill up so we were pleased we got there early. It seems booking is essential on certain nights. We were there on Friday night. The menu is a little overwhelming to work through, so many set meals,...some exotics like Ostrich, Kangaroo and different grills of meat. When you have a large menu and a party of even just five the discussions, pointing out and debating really takes on a whole show in itself. It is often how funny then people revert to a safer position of what they know as what they could try. Menu's like thois confront you. We had different types of nüsslisalat, then one veal cordon bleu, three went for beef stroganoff and one went for a rump steak. These come with french fries, noodles or spaetzle. I took the beef stronganoff and although the meat was tender and good, the source was far too tomato based, it lacked a balance, little sour cream (if any), lacking worcestershire sauce, less than usual mushrooms and not seasoned well. Now I tend to like a spiced version so even ordering the tabasco it failed to change that overpowering tomotato (some paprika) based sauce. Shame. The stand out one for me was the Veal Cordon Blue- nicely done, just well balanced, cheese was right. That was a clear winner. The steak was a steak. (yawn) Then a follow my lead as we mostly went for Vermicelles, usually served with whipped cream and Meringues. It was but the Meringues were a little on the mean side, the vermicelle also but you got lashings of whipped cream and a scope of icecream. Pity I wouod have liked a decent portion of Vermicella and Meringues and less of the fluff and the puff Good selection of wines, we went for a local one, a White followed by a Red and two of the partly finished it off with a Grappa Good food, a little overwhelmed in service when busy, you have to keep looking and chasing and a menu that I feel could be reduced of all the bells and whistles to make the food coming out of the knitchihn a little more focused to a higher end result. No question it is popular and good but as many become well known, they tend to forget or let slip perhaps on why people go there- the food is good, it just could be better with a little more attention"

"We have ordered lasagna and some pasta woth mushrooms, and both dishes were tasteless. Lasagna was about 2cm high, almost no meat and tomato sauce, and no flavor whatsoever. Pasta was in creamy sauce, also flavorless. Very disappointing. Would definitely recommend other places."

"A great escape from the fancy-pants atmosphere of locarno. if you're looking for a low-key place to eat, this is a wonderful stop. family owned a run, they serve quality italian food for reasonable prices. the atmosphere is friendly, not fancy. we had pasta and...pizza, with a salad and the house wine- everything was excellent, especially the spaghetti carbonara."
