"Note: I am only reviewing the cafe, and specifically their Angus Beef hot dog and value, not the theater. Craving an all-beef hot dog and having the flavor memory of Chicago Red Hots and the renowned Doug Sohn’s Hot Doug’s Sausage Superstore and Encased Meat Emporium product, I recognized I’m in a hot dog desert here in Northern Virginia. I noticed Angelika Theater Cafe in Mosaic has Angus Beef hot dogs on their menu. Sensing I was setting myself up for disappointment, a self-fulfilling prophecy, I just finished their Black Angus dog that came with a handful of potato chips, and I ordered a Great Lakes Amber Lager. Disappointed that chopped cold onions were not available, only grilled onions, I settled for a plain dog with yellow hot dog mustard only. Angelika, note that grilled onions are for burgers, and chopped cold onions are for hot dogs. The Angus Beef dog was pretty good, fairly flavorful, and served on an egg roll hot dog bun, but not to the Wow factor of a Chicago Red Hot or a Hot Doug’s dog. Adding to my dissatisfaction is that this mediocre experience was $20.00: $9.00 for the dog and chips, and $12.00 for the draft beer. Terrible value."
