"Perfect place for a healthy and flavoursome lunch! I may have developed an addiction for their sourdough yum!"

"This Bakery/Cafe lacked variety, both in Sandwiches/hot meals as well as baked goods. In fairness, I did arrive at 4:00pm, much past their lunch hours. I ordered a Brownie with Fudge and Pecan topping. The Brownie was very sweet and Rich tasting. It was almost...too sweet. I found the Fudge like topping too sweet for my liking. It completely took over the taste of the Brownie, so you could barely taste the Brownie beneath it. In my opinion, if they used about 1/3 of the Fudge topping, the Brownie would have tasted so much better."

"The pizza was amazingly good last night. A couple from another table recommended it, so gave it a go. Glad we did. Also, the thai chili wings were..."

"We couldn't have been happier with our choice to visit Porto Osteria. We had issues finding somewhere close enough to the ferry but also with a decent food and drink offering. We stumbled on Porto by zooming in on Google Maps. From the moment we arrived we were treated with the greatest service and friendliness. Michael and Jennifer made a great team, knowing we were running behind and not trying to miss the ferry. Yet the food was still perfect, despite the tight timelines. You could taste the bounce and pep in the fresh home cooked pasta. The fresh cut cheese really brought out the aroma in the carbonara and the squid ink pasta and spot prawns stole the show. The mussels and clams were also fresh. We also had a tamponade antipasto and it was also just right, not too salty not too bland. They also had some local beers (canned not draft). I will be back."

"Came here twice over my three night stay on Vancouver Island. It's a cute country charm cafe, bakery and winery. I did wine tasting and the ports were my favorite, the other wines were so so to my palette. The pastries look amazing, I got the Cornish pastie and a steak pot pie. The pricing is a bit high but it's all fresh made so you pay for quality. The staff was hit and miss, some extremely helpful and friendly, others not so much. The staff with the strong French accent was who stood out to me of not very welcoming and not as kind to her fellow staff. Overall I recommend this as a stop near the ferry, lots of choices and good flavors."

"Although The Roost is a popular stop for coffee and a muffin and for those who want to purchase bread, etc. to take home, I cannot recommend the restaurant which is just over a year old now. We waited in a long line with no one greeting us. When we were finally seated, the floor around the table needed to be swept, we asked for water and it didn't come until we asked again and then it was lukewarm, and the egg sandwich was so thick it ceased to be anything but a chore to bite through it. Although I cannot blame the restaurant, one of my teeth broke while eating it - probably coincidental but it did not make for a pleasant memory."
