"Caldos.. oh the caldos.... We have some very good Mexican food in Lafayette. I'd be hard pressed to pick an absolute favorite, but for sit down dining we go where the cooks at the more fancy places downtown go El Chicano ; <br/ <br/ My favorites are the various caldos they have (definitely a full meal or big enough to split with others and their whole tilapia, deep fried. There's something incredibly wonderful about just digging into a whole fish ; <br/ <br/ I've also enjoyed their other fish dishes (the fish with orange is very tasty and their carnitas/carne asada. The burrito was a little bit too big for me, but I think a perfect size to split. ; <br/ <br/ The service is friendly, it's not always speedy because it's cooked to order. That's fine by me with a good selection of Mexican beers, good appetizers and caldos and good company waiting a little bit for great Mexican food is not a problem."
