"Yo! has always been about the novelty. Now it appears you're expected to book. We were a walk in and were seated after a 5 minute wait, but not before some strained looks. The place was almost empty. The server was OK but he was trying to deal with customers delivery driver pick ups too, all on his own. We needed him a couple of times as dishes didn't arrive at the table via the automated system as they should have, but it was hard to get his attention. Once the chef called him over for us. The fun novelty have gone. There is nothing on the belt now, you order by scanning a QR code on your table that opens a web page. You navigate a menu, pay and then your food should arrive at your table by the conveyor belt. It all comes at once: the spontaneity has gone. The automated system makes the dishes you've ordered stop by your table. A traffic light system is there to tell you when something is on its on its way and when it's arrived. That's about as fun as it gets. The ordering process is onerous. With limited signal it was slow. It took 22 minutes to make and submit an order. You pay for each set of dishes every time you order. This meant for us, that we spent a lot of time staring into the screen of our phones, trying to navigate the confusing menu rather than interacting with each other. This made for a tedious experience. Fiddling around on a phone at the table is often frowned upon a blight of modern life maybe but here you have no choice. There were long silences whilst the other went through the slow frustrating process. I was all for leaving and going elsewhere. Some of the dishes we ordered we're unavailable and we were asked to choose others. We weren't told this before we started the ordering process, so another long look at the difficult to navigate slow loading menu. Others didn't arrive. We could see what was probably ours on the belt, going round but it didn't stop by us. Others had similar problems. After the tiresome experience of ordering and getting our food, we only did it once, then left. The food we did get was good, but the dining experience was not and it's not cheap. I was a regular. I've been away from Yo! for a while (some enforced by COVID of course and perhaps this has induced the change), but now, I won't go back unless they improve the table experience."
