"Went their for a meal with my son and daughter in law. 2nd visit this year. Food was very good as was the cider from the local Big Bear Cider Mill nearby. Service was excellent as it was on our previous visit earlier in the year. Service: 5 Location: 5"

"Lovely pub. Decor good. Open fire. Service excellent. Food superb. I’m very critical as we don’t eat out a lot. If the service, decor and food aren’t good I won’t go back. I’m definitely going back. Good honest pub food at its best."

"A little disappointed by the way this meal went, and also surprised by the limited weekend menu. I ordered the special and that was very Bland, in addition I found a wasp in my food (amongst salad). Although the owner was very apologetic, I can't help, but the feeling the boss or the staff would have reviewed my food before I serve it. In addition, I was offered a free drink, but expected to pay for my meal when I took this, so I didn't get the drink and instead took the money from the meal. It is a shame that it has a beautiful environment and has left me that I do not return in a hurry."

"We had a very nice meal here. The starters were all really good. I definitely recommend the pasta fries. The Rustic pizzas were delicious and all baked fresh in a wood fired oven. The salted caramel cheesecake was nice, but very very sickly, to the point it would be better to share, and I wouldn't normally say that about a dessert! The only small gripe is we had to flag someone down to order some more drinks and waited some time to do so. But on the whole would definitely recommend and would return."

"Wow wow wow! I have never been disappointed with this pub, that has consistently served me the most delicious food over the past few years with the loveliest owners! I used to thoroughly enjoy their cheese and bacon burger which is one of the best around in Essex easily, as is their lasagne. Their roast dinner is amazing but since I’ve transitioned to Veggie, their Vegan food has proved to die for! Their vegan cheeseburger is nothing short of unreal and their vegan Jambalaya was incredible- full of flavour. Can’t recommend highly enough. We always save room for desserts as the cheesecakes are the most delicious in this area, out of this world tastes! As is the rest of their extensively varied menu. Even with the pressure of high amounts of catering to deliver for their Mamma Mia movie screening night, the Horse and Groom Team went above and beyond with their service, presenting us with outstanding food quality. All of that is without getting me started on their friendly team and homely countryside setting that’s beautifully furnished with an extensive outdoor area that faces the village’s pretty church aswell as their characteristic interior beams . Can’t wait to see you guys again real soon!"
