"For years now I have visited O Patinho, my first visit was in 2001/02 and I plan to go there every lunchtime and evening when I visit again in February. Do I get bored of eating at the same place every time I visit? No! The family are my friends, not just the people who cook for me or serve me. The food is always good, simple Portuguese cuisine, cooked fresh on the day and thought about in a way that uses what is fresh or in season at that specific time. The Kitchen team, including the grill chef Joao, are experts at what they do. Daniel’s daily specials (typically what the family will eat too that day are always authentic and well cooked, he made me octopus feijoada in the summer, I’ve never tasted anything close to being as good as that!!! He always brings me little samples of what he has been working on that day and they are all Amazing!!! My particular favourites are the grilled fish (sole, bass, bream, horse mackerel, sardines and many more! grilled prawns drizzled in chilli oil (order in advance Grilled Black Pig, picanha (small Brazilian style steaks and chicken Piri piri Spatchcock chicken, specially marinated, sprinkled with rock salt and grilled perfectly. Ask for Franguito, small tasty Portuguese chickens. Everything is served as you like with chips/rice and fresh, fresh salad. A special mention goes to Sara who manages the tables and attends your every need with a smile. I could honestly write about this place all night, I look for great food everywhere I go and I promise you will not be disappointed if you seek out this little hidden gem on your visit to Monte Gordo this year! Simple and perfect, a taste of summer every day."
