"Overall rating: 4.5<br/ <br/ The architectural design and earthy tones of Bentwood cafe gave off such a calming atmosphere as we were welcomed by friendly staff. We were seated in a very spacious setting with a nice window view. <br/ <br/ I must say the plating is just beautiful and everything on their menu is definitely worth trying. As we waited for our brunch, we ordered some drinks.<br/ <br/ Mango smoothie was so refreshing and balanced with flavours of sweetness and tartness from the yoghurt and mango. Loved the addition of the coconut flakes, chia seeds and mint leaves! <br/ <br/ House blend coffee was nicely roasted and had a smooth taste. We also had some Chai which involved having to sift the physical herbs and spices in the chai mixture. Was fun being an alchemist for a bit and was definitely aromatic but wish it was sweeter. Maybe something went wrong given our poor cooking skills! <br/ <br/ Mango chicken salad (4.5/5): this was interesting yet divine to eat. Who knew mango and coconut dressing would go so well with savoury chicken and noodles. Chicken was a teeny bit dry. The soba noodles kept its nice integrity as it was soaked in the creamy salad dressing. The crispy salted flakes gave the dish a nice finish and a perfect balance of flavour and texture. <br/ <br/ Chilli scrambled eggs (4/5): A beautiful vibrant dish full of flavour. The tangy yet sweet cherry tomatoes was balanced by the creaminess of the egg scramble and saltiness of the bacon. Shallots are my favourite condiment and gave the dish that needed texture. Price for just a sourdough with eggs scrambled with bacon and tomatoes could be less expensive. <br/ <br/ Eggs benny (5/5): Braised beef cheek was so juicy and fatty, just melted right it in the mouth. It was seasoned perfectly, and paired well with the hollandaise sauce. The sweet potato waffles was the perfect base to create that perfect balance of flavour and texture. Its deceiving size is very filling. <br/ <br/ Food: 4.5<br/ Value: 4<br/ Ambience: 5<br/ Service: 4"

"Dropped in for lunch after a gruelling mornings shopping. Orange juice was v refreshing and the presentation of our meals was a pleasant surprise. It tasted good too. Staff slightly offhand but service quick enough."

"Beautiful sunny morning in Melbourne and footpath tables buzzing with trendy coffee drinkers. Upon entering I was ignored by the 3 staff so sat myself at a table. After 5 minutes a glass of water was slopped down in front of me and a menu slapped onto the table by a waiter whilst passing. No words spoken! Another 5 minutes pass by and I notice another patron go to the counter to place his order whilst another calls the waitress over to take his order. I decide to order at the counter where I am glanced at whilst giving my order but again no words spoken. The eventual arrival of my luke warm soy latte added to an already disappointing experience. I paid at the counter and was given my change again with not a word spoken.Trendy it may be but a few friendly words and maybe a smile would go a long way though in saying that nothing excuses a luke warm coffee!"

"One of my favourite cafes. This place is definitely geared towards authentic, honest food as opposed to dishes that prioritise looking good on Instagram you will not find flower garnishes here, and the majority of ingredients are organic and high quality. Favourites are the beans, porridge (so generous, varied seasonal poached fruits, organic yoghurt, candied nuts and a big serve), and chicken sandwich, which is always very nicely balanced. Coffee is great and service reflects the food genuine. Is a small cafe and can get pretty busy on the weekend!"
