"If you have lived in Perth as long as I have I doubt you haven't visited or at least heard of the Miss Maud Smorgasbord Restaurant. I have fond memories of visiting this venue, few places in Perth have such a range of beautifully prepared dining delights. The roasts are succulent and desserts always flavourful, a foodies paradise for sure. Be sure to book for the smorgasbord because this restaurant is always near capacity, especially at lunchtime when I usually visit. Seating is comfortable but somewhat crowded, the decor suitable for the restaurants heritage and staff efficient. It hasn't changed that much over the decades, and I hope it never does! Very well done."

"I'd heard about Lallah Rookh for a few years but had never had the opportunity to go. Brother and his girlfriend in town gave me the chance for a family dinner. Very pleasant dining space down stairs in a basement setting. Did not feel cramped or closed in as some basement settings can be. Easy to find the entrance right off St George's Tce. The menu is Italian and full of fresh produce and tasty sounding dishes. We went with the Il Capo or 'feed me' option. This is a surprise menu of 6 dishes designed to be shared by the whole table. 3 entrees, a pasta, a main and a dessert. This is great value at $68 per person. Every dish was visually enticing and all were very tasty. The Panko Crumbed Pork Shoulder was delicious whilst the Spaghetti Vongole was a winner as the pasta dish. The drinks list is extensive and includes a large variety of wines. Tending towards Italian varietals, as you would expect, but from across the globe. Everyone should be able to find a drink that they enjoy. The staff are fantastic. Prompt to serve, clear and assist with any questions you may have. They definitely enhanced the experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant for either a casual after work meal in the city or a more formal night out with family or friends. And definitely go Il Capo!"

"When you mention good French food in Perth, P’tite Ardoise Bistro always comes to mind.<br/ <br/ Their menu is filled with old-school staples like beef bourguignon, beef tartare, coc au vin and your good old beef fillet steaks; dishes that have been around for so long that they are now considered old-fashioned and boring.<br/ <br/ But boring doesn’t mean bland. "Perfect spot for a civilised glass of wine or two for a work' meeting. Had the Malbec by the glass which was outstanding and served with a smile. Love sitting in the grand entrance of the Treasury building. Cheese platter next time!"

"Lunch today in the city at the Sentinel which I have walked past a few times and wondered what it was like inside. I walked in and it was busy at 12.45 on a Friday. Lots of office workers having lunch. I was promptly greeted and seated in the side of the restaurant which was a little quieter. My waitress asked me if I wanted water and gave me the menu along with the specials. I decided to go with the special of the day a slow cooked beef brisket with pearl barley risotto, parsnip puree and mushroom sauce, and I asked the waitress which red wine she would recommend. She suggested the Italian wines Sangiovese or the Dolcetto. I was not sure and asked if I could have a taste of both, and I was given two small glasses to try. The Dolcetto was a very unusual but excellent wine, slightly crisp and hints of berries; I ordered a glass of this. I also received complimentary bread and some nice herb butter. The beef came out fairly quickly and was beautifully presented. The flavor of the beef was delicious, and loved the creaminess of the puree. All elements were perfect, however, I found that I could have done with a little more sauce or puree as I ran out and the beef needed a little sauce. Friendly service, reasonable prices, and good food and wine, definitely will come back."
