"We were too eight and ate to dinner. starting with the reservation, the service, the food and the price-performance ratio - it was all excellent. the ambiente in the dining room is very pleasant, we felt spontaneously comfortable. the beautiful oil paintings on the walls - they can also be purchased - create a special atmosphere. happy again!"

"Such is the power of the Michelin star system, we arranged a night stay in Augsburg expressly to have dinner at Restaurant August. The evening was fun and enjoyable, and some of the courses were intensely flavoured, but it falls short of what we have...come to expect from Michelin star rated restaurants for a number of reasons. But first, the good points: August is housed in a spectacular 19c industrialist 's mansion. The many (and there are many courses on the set menu are imaginatively and creatively presented: your table is a glass light box, through which you see a presentation 'drawer ' where many of the amuses bouches are displayed. After each one, the drawer is pulled out to access the next. Many are served on broken shards of porcelain (no sharp edges! which sounds weird but somehow it worked. However, the first frustration was with the wine choice: no wine flight suggestions, no wines by the glass either, so one is left to choose from a wine list without knowing precisely what dishes to pair with. What we ordered was fine, although many times our glasses were left empty with the bottle out of reach. (We got the impression that the staff were more concerned with pleasing the theatrical performance of the roaming executive chef than addressing our needs. Secondly, while many of the courses were intensely flavoured, many lacked finesse, or were unbalanced, one or two were served in too great a portion, others were simply underwhelming. One or two came with specific directions to eat the whole thing in one mouthful, which for a particularly rich and buttery dish was an instruction I wish I 'd ignored. Thirdly, the glass table arrangement began to take on a surreal and distinctly unappetizing character: gradually, instead of seeing food through the glass top, you were instead shown potato peelings or fish skin, the detritus from what was being eaten above. In conclusion, it may seem harsh to give only three Trip Advisor points to a Michelin 2 star restaurant, but ultimately it 's down to quality versus value for money. A quirky and eccentric service is all very well. We have been to very many Michelin starred restaurants (indeed, only the night before we enjoyed an excellent meal at a one star in Heidelberg but unfortunately Restaurant August does not rate with them."

"That the chop meat of the normal burger is deep frozen and only the gourmet burger is made from fresh chop meat, you cannot be called for good. for this, the standard burgers are then too expensive. be it as it is, we ordered a gourmet burger. unfortunately the taste was extremely faded. pfeffer, salt, pure with it! the sweet potato frits"

"We arrived in Augsburg the night before the last workday before Christmas, and realised getting a Restaurant reservation was going to be difficult. Fortunately, this wonderful brew-house restaurant below a brilliant book-shop was able to accept us. Front of house welcome was efficient, our table...for two comfortable, beer and wine list varied, menu offering traditional Bavarian and waiting staff pleasant and efficient. Would definitely return."

"Portionen riesig. Service freundlich und sehr schnell. Das wars dann aber auch. Der Pattie lauwarm die frittieren Zwiebeln steinhart. Der Käse auf dem Pattie nicht zerlaufen. Und die angekündigte Soße auf dem Burger fehlte völlig. Schade zu den für Augsburg sehr hoch angesetzten Preisen nicht akzeptabel und nicht empfehlenswert."

"We were in the hubertushof at the annual green-coal food. it was really tasty and it was still made bowling on the tables to grasp. together with a beer for 10 €, you can't mug. we are looking forward to the beer garden season and a delicious broth time."
