"Very handy for Basel SBB opposite. I left the station and was seated within a minute. Before my first course I was offered an amuse bouche which was black bread and salmon tartare. My first course was some of the best fish I've ever had cod ceviche with yellow beetroot, chilli, coriander radish. The cod was perfectly tender and the vegetables with it a perfect accompaniment. My main course wasn't Swiss Weiner Schnitzel with rosti. Again, perfectly cooked and the rosti was beautifully crispy. All in all an excellent experience!"

"A ruined evening. My wife and I had one evening to spend in Basel, and chose this restaurant because of the attractive setting. We were bitterly disappointed. The fish and vegetables came from the freezer (confirmed by the server) and the tasteless, butter-free risotto was almost certainly from an instant packet. Both dishes were topped with cress in a futile attempt to disguise what was beneath. The wine was so exorbitantly priced that we stuck to beer and water. One star for the piano."

"We were krafft to a lunch in the restaurant. despite the rather small selection (which is to be welcomed in principle) everyone found something after their taste. In particular, the meat-kÃ1⁄4lein and the teigwaren and the mini dessert with a coffee, which also finds itself in the magenta after two generously sized courses. only the service was a little slow, but friendly."

"As a good knower of the basler caffe scene I can confirm the above statement. next to a large cup with coffee gives a right handsome hot milk - together a beautiful amount. the cafe is small and can be seen from outside only as bakery/confectionery. which are not on site, but by the own produced bakery and confectionery goods are carefully prepared and of good quality. for the little lunch there is also a hot dish daily, style lasagne with salat. contempt between ten and eleven - the basler season of the cheese - this is locally occupied with many older women who are not always quite calm."

"Wonderful atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food! What more could you want? I had enjoyed the food when my department had their annual meal here in Fall 2014, and I have been curious to try their cuisine outside of a preset menu, as I have heard so many good things from friends. Zum Goldenes Fass did not disappoint! The 3-course surprise menu was perfectly balanced and left us feeling comfortably full and happy. We ordered a bottle of wine, which I found to be a bit pricey even with the cheapest bottle on the menu, but this aside, I think the meal was very reasonably priced (for Switzerland.) The atmosphere was elegant and welcoming, mixed in with a lovely informality. All in all, an excellent meal and I will certainly be returning again!"
