"The Restaurant Baeren has been a long term fixture of dining in West Freiburg and we've eaten here multiple times in the or so years we have been coming here. Over that time the decor has been gradually updated, although retaining its traditional black...forrest' feel, but the food has remained constant. They serve a range of local foods, with a mix of meat and fish dishes (as with many German restaurants vegetarians are not especially well catered for), the food is well cooked and generously portioned. Service is friendly and rapid."

"I was in an apartment above the restaurant for two weeks. During that time I ate here several times. the food was consistently good, the service of high quality. The place does get crowded at lunch and in the evenings. they do take reservations. The menu has both vegetarian and traditional items, something for everyone."

"I am currently in Freiburg and I went here for lunch today! This place was good but not great. It was not really that expensive and this place does not charge a VAT so it was not bad. We arrived around 12:30 and were seated as soon as we came in. The place was empty which should of meant something but it is a Monday. We were seated and our waitress took our order. They have Menu's in both German and English so we knew what we were ordering. I ended up getting 2 items. I got the bratwursts which were veal and it came with a onion gravy sauce and potato cakes. The bratwursts were very good and tasted great without sauce or mustard on them. I also decided to get the spetzil which was not very good in my book. It tasted like Alfredo and was not what I expected. I wanted more from this place but it was not the best. I have had some really good German food in Freiburg and I would not go back here."

"Mal etwas anderes. Hier werden Gerichte aus unterschiedlichen Ländern, basierend auf Kartoffeln vielfältig und sehr lecker serviert. Exzellente Preis- Leistung. Ein sehr uriges Restaurant in einem alten kleinen Haus mit schönen Sitzplätzen im Innenbereich, sowie schöner Außenbereich. Sehr nettes Personal. Am Rande Altstadtzentrum Freiberg."
