"Good and selective choice of regional 'landaise ' cuisine with a slight Carribean/Creole twist in some of the desserts, reasonably priced, very friendly and attentive service. The choice of dishes on the a la carte menu is no tin itself extensive, which means the chef is...able to dedicate his culinary skills to a few but delicious dishes, which give an overall authentic feel for the regional cuisine from the Landes (South West France 'departement ' of the Aquitaine region area where I actually grew up . This means I was able to gauge first hand the quality of the food on offer, as I am familiar with it, having spent my childhood and early20s in the area. Genuine cooking it is, and t also benefits from a refined presentation, with reasonably sized portions, sufficient to satisfy your appetite. What 's more, the restaurant prides itself on having been the regular of late president Francois Mitterrand, who entertained Chancellor Helmut Kohl there, when he stayed at his former country residence located a few kilometres at the back of the village of Azur in the landaise pine forest. Some of the staff are from Caribbean origin, which adds a special touch to the service and makes for a very warm and relaxed atmosphere. The only downside (and it is a minor one! was a slight delay in getting the bill and a mix up I the type of coffee ordered after the desserts. Otherwise, it was perfect.
