"Last minute decision for lunch and we didnt need to reserve a table. The recommended' plat-du-jour was a salmon risotto or club sandwich au volaille'. Sounded delicious. Was shocked to see a spam sandwich arrive (see photo)... and for Euros! Restaurant has an awful...lot of seemingly busy staff yet service is pretty slow/poor (incorrect, forgetful orders and we were a simple table of They do have a DJ over lunch but Genius mix on itunes would have done the job. I miss the old Igloo' self-service... was much better"

"This is now my third time of visiting and it is always such a pleasure. A lot of Megeve restaurants are rather disappointing and overpriced but not here. They want you to enjoy the food and wine. I love their home smoked salmon as a starter, the soup was delicious too.Martin the restaurant manager who is always so welcoming tells you what is particularly good on the menu that day. We have had fabulous steak, veal chop and my daughter's squid was cooked to perfection.The only reason I have not given it full stars is that the decor although pleasant does not create an intimate atmosphere-it feels too open.It did not matter to us but I think if someone was going for a first date or with someone they did not know well this may be relevant"

"Our meal at the Fromagerie (Alpine Restaurant) at the Fermes de Marie was catastrophic. We are Megève regulars for over 25 years, and have never experienced such a disappointment, especially when the restaurant flaunts itself as one of the best in this category! The grandest of the evening was when the server forced me to taste the corked wine while my husband had already felt it was no good and the smell left me also without doubt. I must admit that I had never been treated like this. I complied only because we were with friends and I did not want to make a scandal. But what a strange feeling when my husband told me he had seen said server in discussion with the sommelier and the wine bottle. Can we go as far as to think it was a deliberate attempt to foist this bottle on us? Probably seen the insistence of the young waiter. Besides this first early mishap, I would add that the fondue was poor, the room was noisy and especially that it was smoky because of the lack of air extraction when people ate meat fondues. Having watery eyes reflected the amount of this smoke. Is it reasonable to eat in these conditions, especially as the price for fondue or raclette remains high? Our recommendation: do not go. You will be disappointed and will have the impression that one has made fun of you. This testimony reflects the experience at the Fromagerie des Fermes de Marie but one can imagine that the same is true on the traditional restaurant and hotel given the mentality highlighted during this evening."
