"My man and I are vegetarian and after a long afternoon strolling the streets of alfama, we thought it would be easy enough to find a hearty vegetarian meal near the fado museum as there are so many restaurants nearby. but it was a lot more difficult than it seemed. we spent the next hour fighting to find a place where we could eat a proper lunch (not only sides like rice or salat and we were very happy to find restaurante patrono. the owner saw us a difficult time and asked us what we were looking for. when we told her a vegetarian court, she offered us a Portuguese court called pataniscas with sweet instead of fish and it was delicious! it wasn't officially on the menu, but it should be really! the portion size was large and also came with a large bowl of fantastic rice. Not to mention was the price incredibly affordable for lunch, only cost euro pro. we both loved the court and very appreciated the owner made it especially for us to know our dilemma. we also had coffee cakes, weeping and salat and all-in-all it was our favorite place that we so far visited in whole portugal. cannot recommend enough if they are in the opposite or just want to try an authentic Portuguese dish without meat or fish!"
