"My wife and I visited this pub with our dog Milo. After what was a lovely Sunday Lunch I went to pay. I settled up and as I did a very large dog (the owners Mastiff) pushed passed me in order to get to Milo....It pushed my wife out of the way and tried to attack him. I had to swing Milo out of the way on his lead whilst the owner wrestled the dog into the other room. As I lifted Milo the dog had a second go and fortunately just got a mouth full of fur! The owner tried to laugh it off and said hes a ‘big softy’! He wasn’t! He then also tried to say that he didn’t know there was another dog in or he wouldn’t have been allowed down! This was at 19:00! Absolutely 100% bang out of order! Please be careful if you take your dog here. Both Milo and Mrs were really shaken up. Shouldn’t be claiming ‘Dog Friendly’!!!!"

"I don’t usually leave reviews in fact this is my first TripAdvisor review but I couldn’t not after the amazing quality food we had tonight. We’ve tried pretty much every local Chinese takeaway but this one by far beats the rest. Only downside is delivery isn’t offered but honestly I can overlook that because of the food! Food was freshly made, piping hot and delicious with flavour. Prices are very reasonable and staff are lovely. Best in the area by far and will be returning. Thank you for the great service!"

"Love this place! The staff are wonderful, we always feel so welcome and nothing is ever a trouble for them. The food is excellent, my hubby is oober fussy about steak and has had about 9 steaks there and never a complaint. The quiz night on a Wednesday is a great laugh, with free chip butties! Everything a pub should be and more!"

"This place is like Freddie Karno's Circus. It is chaotic. Firstly our ribs arrived looking like they had been microwaved. Tough, anemic and poor sauce. We sent them back and had them removed from the bill. The waitress apologized. My wife's teriyaki salmon was nice...and my burger would have been if the chips weren't stone cold. I sent them to be replaced and the waitress apologized again. We had to find another waitress to get more drinks as ours had disappeared for a while. We chose deserts. My wife's was fine but when I asked if the Chocolate fudge cake was hot and was told it was, it arrived cold.The waitress apologized again. I sent it back to come back lukewarm. I just eat it as every time it took ages to find the waitress who was permanently busy even thought it was Monday night and the restaurant wasn't full. I would have asked for a reduction has I not had a discounted voucher. It is no wonder pub chains like Brunning and Price thrive against amateurish competition like this. I won't be going again"

"Yesterday's masterpiece was griddled turbot with cepes, girolles and pureed potatoes. Absolutely fantastic, as another satisfied diner on their way out remarked as the head chef was grating a white truffle over my serving of the dish as a finishing touch. And all this for £3. The only way my meal could have been improved was if a similarly subsidised bottle of Chassagne Montrachet had been available to complement it. Today's offerings included roast grouse breast with wild duck and smoked buttered cabbage; griddled plaice with creamed leeks and prawns; pork escalope with tomato confit and Gruyere cheese; and lasagne with a herbed green salad. I could happily have eaten all of them (and some colleagues, looking at my waistline, may well believe that I did). But, craving top class comfort food, I confined myself to the lasagne. Which was great."
